POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

TERRORISTIC THREATS:
According to a criminal complaint, on December 24th Patrick McCloskey, 41, of Ellwood City, was charged with Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another. At approximately 9:10 a.m., ECPD was requested by McCloskey’s mother to come to Crescent Avenue due to threats made by McCloskey towards her and her other son. It was learned by police of an active bench warrant for McCloskey’s arrest. Upon arriving to the scene, Patrick was sitting on the porch, he started to tell Officers that he didn’t do anything anything wrong and began to make threats towards the Officers. McCloskey was taken to ECPD and put into a cell for safekeeping and later transported to a nearby hospital for a involuntary mental health commitment.

DUI:
According to a criminal complaint, Kimberly Kelly, 45, of New Castle, is charged with DUI after a traffic stop in September. According to the report, officers stopped Kelly after her vehicle was stopped in the middle of Route 422 and obstructing traffic and police pursued. During the traffic stop the vehicle was found to have two children in the rear passenger seats and Kelly to be dazed, disoriented, and confused. A smell of burnt marijuana emanated from the vehicle and a red metal smoking device was observed in the vehicle. Additional marijuana and devices were located in the vehicle. Kelly failed the field sobriety test and was transported to a nearby hospital for blood draw.

DUI:
Amanda Kamerer, 33, of New Castle was charged with Driving Under the Influence. On November 24 at approximately 12:43 p.m., an officer pulled Kamerer over after it was discovered that her registration was suspended and was driving recklessly. Upon approaching Kamerer, Officers observed slowed speech and and bloodshot eyes as well as appearing very drowsy. Officers asked to search Kamerer’s vehicle to which she consented to as well as sobriety tests. Signs of impairment were observed, Kamerer then related that she used her prescription suboxone and an unknown anxiety medication. Kamerer was then placed into custody for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.

DUI/CARELESS DRIVING:
According to a criminal complaint, William Burns, 35, of Wampum, is charged with DUI after a traffic stop in July. According to the report, and at approximately 1:25 a.m., officers pursed a Dodge Ram truck speeding with inoperable tail lights and later made contact with the driver. Upon stopping the vehicle a white female passenger exited the vehicle and ran away from the truck. Burns failed to obey police commands to exit the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed. Burns was observed to be under the influence and, due to his resistive nature and risk of escape, was transported to New Castle police barracks and later transported to a nearby hospital for a blood draw.

RAPE/INDECENT ASSAULT:
According to a report, Eric Prothero, 31, of Rochester, is charged with rape of a child and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child. Prothero committed the acts in 2014 and the minors are now 15, 16 and 12, respectively. According to court reports, Prothero admitted to these acts in December after the minors spoke regarding the incidents during forensic interviews. Prothero is awaiting trial in Beaver County for a felony count of corruption of minors and one misdemeanor count of indecent assault, for a reported 2018 incident in New Sewickley Township. He was also charged with felony counts of unlawful contact of a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault for a reported incident in December in New Sewickley Township.
