The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship.
The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117), and Riverside (129).
“I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.”
The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships.
Ellwood City had six runners finish in the top 15 which easily secured the championship. Top performers include Joel Brooks (3rd place, 17:35), Colten Crizer (5th place, 17:44), Nick Wise (6th place, 17:55), Bradley Custer (12th place, 18:41) and Ian Stoneking (13th place, 18:42).
Riverside stand out Ty Fluharty finished in 1st place overall with a time of 16:35 for the Panthers.
Next up for the Wolverines is the WPIAL Championships on October 28 at California University.
