Undefeated EC Boys Cross Country Team Wins Section Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remained undefeated with a victory this week and earned itself a section championship.

The Wolverines boys defeated Riverside and Mohawk on Tuesday in earning their eleventh victory of the season.  The boys (11-0 overall) will next turn to MAC Championships at Brush Creek Park on October 14th beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Varsity results: Ellwood City 21, Mohawk 38; Ellwood City 20, Riverside 43. Top 5 boys include Marley Schweiger (2nd place) 15:25, Nolan Curran (3rd place) 15:30, Joe Cioffi (6th place) 16:28, Joel Brooks (7th place) 16:55, and Nick Wise (8th place) 17:27.

EC GIRLS VOLLEYBALL REMAINS UNDEFEATED

The Ellwood City Girls volleyball team remained undefeated with its victory over Neshannock on Tuesday.  After dropping the first set to the Lancers, the Lady Wolverines battled to earn a five-set victory (3-2) to extend its undefeated record to 9-0 on the season.

Ellwood City dropped the first set 25-19, but bounced back with set victories, 25-23 and 25-15, before Neshannock tied the match with a 27-25 set victory to set up a fifth and decisive set.  Ellwood City won the tie-breaking set 15-10 to earn the match victory.

The Wolverines volleyball team will next travel to New Brighton for a match on October 8th at 7:30 p.m.
