Panthers Set to Compete At PIAA Swimming Championships

The 2022 PIAA Swimming Championships are slated to begin this week at Kinney Natatorium located on the campus of Bucknell University. For the Riverside Panthers, winners of WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events among others earlier this month, they will look to showcase its talent at the championships that begin with Class 2A prelims Friday. Head coach Bill Valli is very excited and optimistic about the chances of the athletes to reach Saturday’s finals. Ellwood City Boys Claim Tri-County Cross Country Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship. The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117),  and Riverside (129). “I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.” The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships. Riverside Swimming Repeats In WPIAL Swimming Championships, Roth Sets WPIAL Record

The Riverside swimming team earned a pair of golds in the 200 and 400 meter free relays at the 2021 WPIAL Class-AA Swimming Championships on Saturday at Upper St. Clair High School while Joseph Roth earned a WPIAL gold medal in the individual 100-meter backstroke and set a WPIAL record along the way. The first place finish in the 200 meter free relay event earned Riverside a repeat gold medal performance. The Ellwood City Varsity Boys Cross Country team collected a championship in the Tri-County meet over the weekend. “My coaching staff and I are so proud of these bunch of young men they been working so hard all summer long it’s all paying off,” said head coach Mark Hall. Ellwood City 12U Softball Team Falls Short In Championship; Mohawk Wins County Title

Many say that one of the hardest tasks in sports is to defeat a team three times in the same season. The Lady Wolverines experienced it the hard way as Mohawk led from wire to wire and defeated Ellwood City 14-0.
