In a statement made available by the Borough of Ellwood City on Wednesday, officials now anticipate the new trash contract to begin July 1, 2021.
A press release reads as follows:
The new Ellwood City Trash Contract is anticipated to begin July 1, 2021. The trash cart manufacturer has given Valley Waste an estimated delivery time of mid-June. When the carts arrive, Valley Waste and Ellwood City Public Works will work together to deliver the carts to customer addresses. The new contract will start on the first of the following month. More trash bags have also been ordered and are also anticipated to arrive in mid-June. Until they arrive, customers will continue to be limited to purchasing one roll of bags at a time. Pricing on bags will not change until the new contract begins.
The next yard waste pick-up will be the week of June 21, 2021. When the new contract starts, yard waste will be bi-weekly. In addition, some adjustments are going to be made to the route schedule to better ensure timely pick-up of trash and recycling. Most residents pick-up days and times will be unaffected, however, Valley Waste will be sending a mailer to each address in the borough with details on trash pick-up, dates, and times, recycling information, yard waste pick-up, contact numbers, and other information.
The Borough would also like to thank all the residents who have responded with their choice for their trash pick-up. Currently 75 of our residential addresses have responded; if you have not yet turned in your form, sent an email, submitted a Google Form (www.forms.gle/bjWWfTpd9SyNFUuG8), or called the borough, please do so as soon as possible so we can best serve the entire community.
