REMINDER: Last Day For New Trash Carts

The final day for the new trash carts for Ellwood City Borough residents will be delivered Saturday June 26th. Residents are NOT to use the carts until Thursday, July 1st and are to continue to use the yellow bags until then. The new contract with Valley Waste will begin on July 1st. Any refuse placed into the carts, or any bag other than the yellow bag, WILL BE LEFT BEHIND, no exceptions.  


New Borough Trash Contract Anticipated To Begin July 1

In a statement made available by the Borough of Ellwood City on Wednesday, officials now anticipate the new trash contract to begin July 1, 2021. A press release reads as follows: The new Ellwood City Trash Contract is anticipated to begin July 1, 2021. The trash cart manufacturer has given Valley Waste an estimated delivery time of mid-June. When the carts arrive, Valley Waste and Ellwood City Public Works will work together to deliver the carts to customer addresses. The new contract will start on the first of the following month. Ellwood City Garbage Causing a Stink

Ellwood City’s recycling program is down in the dumps. The landfill to be exact. The situation has gotten so bad, according to Ellwood City Manager David Allen, that waste management companies are refusing to take our items. He said in a recent council meeting that when one of these companies hears the name Ellwood City, they want nothing to do with our waste. This is happening, Allen said, because non-recyclable items are ending up in the recycling containers.
