Backyard Composting & Rain Barrel Workshop Planned

The Lawrence County Conservation District and the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department are partnering on a workshop about backyard composting and stormwater management. The class is set for Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It will be held at the Albert P. Gettings Annex (the former church) across the street from the Lawrence County Courthouse.  Attendees can enter through the doors facing the courthouse on Milton Street. Sign Ups Being Accepted for Upcoming Wampum Christmas Parade

Sign your kids up for treats! The Wampum Area 49th Annual Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 4, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee is still accepting sign-ups for treat bags. Following the Parade on December 4th, Santa Claus will distribute treat bags to children in the Wampum gymnasium. COVID-19 protocol will be followed. Treat bags are free to Wampum area children. Ty Fluharty Finishes 2nd Overall In PIAA Cross Country Championships

Riverside Panther runner Ty Fluharty finished 2nd overall in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Hershey, PA. The Panther senior finished with a time 16:39.50 for his second place finish among 259 runners. [VIEW VIDEO] Junior Thomas Smigo of Palisades finished 16:31 to win the Class A boys state title. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

BREAKING & ENTERING: According to a criminal complaint, on October 13th at approximately 5:33 a.m., Ellwood City police were dispatched to a report of an interior burglary alarm at Fraternal Orders of Eagles on Lawrence Avenue. No forced entray was observed but later that day a member of the club told officers that someone broke into the club the prior night. The club member showed police video footage that shows a white male exit the restroom on the second floor of the building at 5:21 a.m., and the individual was later identified as William Donahoe, 63, of Ellwood City. Ellwood City, Franklin Twp Police To Participate In “No Shave November”

Say no to the blade and yes to cancer awareness. This month, both Ellwood City and Franklin Township Police Departments will be participating in ‘No Shave November’, a month-long journey whereby participants ditch razors and forego shaving and grooming facial hair as part of an effort to raise awareness and money to fight cancer. The Ellwood City Police Officers will be putting down their razors and making a monetary donation to Club Hope to help in the fight against cancer. Route 288 Zelienople Road Reopening Thursday in Franklin Township

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing the reopening of a section of Zelienople Road (Route 288) in Franklin Township, Beaver County, will occur Thursday, November 4 weather permitting. A section of Zelienople Road between Lake Road and Old Furnace Road is expected to reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. Thursday.  The roadway has been closed continuously since July 26 for the Route 288 realignment project sponsored by the Zelienople Airport Authority.  Additionally, Lake Road (Route 1010) will open by 5 p.m. Thursday.
