Rosetta Chontos, 87

Mrs. Rosetta Chontos, 87, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 2, 2017 in the Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD.

Mrs. Chontos was born on February 13, 1930 in Ellwood City to the late Domenico and Louise M. Noschese Recce. Rosetta graduated from  Lincoln High School with the class of 1948. She had worked at the Ellwood City Hospital for many years as a nurses aide. She is also a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Holy Redeemer Parish, along with the Corona D’Italia. She enjoyed cake decorating, cooking, reading and traveling.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Charles) Palamone of Ellicott City, MD, and Melanie (Kenny) Brenner of Rosemount, MN, her grandchildren, Daniel and Jordan Palamone, Dylan and Hailey Brenner, and her brothers, James “Jocko” Recce, and Anthony (Marlene) Recce both of Ellwood City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William J. Chontos whom she married on November 18, 1950 and passed away on January 7, 2013, her sister Valeria Recce in infancy, and her brother Nick J. Recce, Sr..

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church. Those attending the mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday by 9:20 am. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Saturday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Chontos name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Social Services.
