John Steele Smith, 89

Mr. John Steele Smith, 89, of New Brighton passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 in the Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls, Pa.

Mr. Smith was born on November 14, 1926 to the late Melvin and Camella Steele Smith. John enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 as a Yeoman in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. John had worked at Westinghouse Corporation for 35 years. He also worked as a painter for many years. John was a hard worker, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Denise (David) Barnes of West Newton, Robyn (Steve) Lucas of Ellwood City, Kim Greco of New Brighton, and Tammie (Mike) Heck of Baden, his grandchildren, Amy, Todd, Beth, Shanan, Neal, and Taylor, and his great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Piper, Cole, and Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brothers, Mervin Smith, and Melvin Smith.

A private visitation and service will be held for the family on Wednesday in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services with Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating.
