Leonard L. Wolfe, 90

Leonard L. Wolfe, 90, of Ellwood City passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 in the UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Leonard was born on April 1, 1926 in Ellwood City to the late Frank F. and Nancy Russo Wolfe, Sr. Leonard enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corp. in October of 1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II with the rank of Sargent until his discharge in November of 1947. He reenlisted in 1950, during the Korean War, and served at Camp LeJune, NC where he trained new troops and held the rank of Staff Sargent.

Leonard had worked as a mechanic and service manager at various automobile dealerships in the area. He then worked at the Aetna Standard Engineering Co. as a machinist, Ryman Engineering, and Herr Voss for 10 years before his retirement. Leonard also worked at Kalajainen’s Boat dealership in New Castle on the weekends fixing boat motors.

He is a member of the Holy Redeemer Church, the Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club, the Ellwood City Polish Club, and the former Rock Point Boat Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time at his camp in Kennerdell.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Leona Sutkowski Wolfe whom he married on May 10, 1948, his daughters, Carolyn (Stan) Conti of Cranberry Twp., Elaine (Barry) Silverman of Pittsburgh, and Chris (Mark) Raykovics of Cranberry Twp., his eight grandchildren, Rachel, Jason, Anthony, Nicholas, Amelia, Bryan, Kathryn, and Grace, his eight great-grandchildren, and his sister, Dr. Lucille Watterson of Ellwood City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Schlemmer, his brothers, Frank F. “Fufu” Wolfe, Jr., and Charles Wolfe, and his brother-in-law William Watterson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Zachary Galiyas officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 9:20 a.m. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the cemetery on Wednesday by 11 a.m. to conduct full military honors.
