David H. Gilchrist, 72

David H. Gilchrist, 72, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Healthcare Home Hospice in the West Penn Hospital.

Born April 17, 1943 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Harold “Buss” and Estelle (Punzell) Gilchrist and beloved husband of Patty (Kennedy) Gilchrist. David began his career as a boilermaker at U.S. Steel’s Ellwood City plant, and eventually retired from the Clairton Coke Works in 2009. In his free time, David loved to spend time golfing with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his son, Patrick (Karen) Gilchrist of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Nora and Matthew Gilchrist; brother, Ronald (Susan) Gilchrist, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor William Little will officiate. Also on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 9:20 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the AHN Hospice Care Fund, Office of Fund Development, 4818 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa 15224.
