John R. Toth, 83

John R. Toth, 83, of Ellport passed away on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 in the Ellwood City Hospital Emergency Room as the result of an automobile accident.

Toth was born on April 20, 1932 in Ellwood City to the late John and Helen Remack Toth. John served with the U.S. Navy from April 21, 1950 until his discharge on Feb. 16, 1954 with the rank of Seaman First Class. He had served on the USS Soley, USS Putnam and the USS Loeser during the Korean War Era. He had then worked at the J&L steel mill in Aliquippa for over 30 years. John is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish, the American Legion Post 157, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, hiking and gardening.

John is survived by his three sisters, Sylvia (Tony) Santillo of Ellwood City, Edna Munzinger of Pittsburgh, and Patty Santillo of Ellwood City, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Helen Scott, Rose Mesko, and Dorothy Mesko, his brother, Elmer L. Toth, and his special friend, Phyllis Britton.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from Noon until the time of the Blessing Service at 2 p.m. with Father Mark Thomas officiating in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. Internment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday by 1:50 p.m. to conduct full military honors.
