Mayor Anthony J. Court presented the Yellow Ribbons Girls with a proclamation recognizing 20 years of commitment and dedication to our troops. Yellow Ribbon Girls is a faith based group of local volunteers. 40,000 boxes. That’s how many shipments have been sent by locally organized Yellow Ribbon Girls. Yellow Ribbon Girls is made up of hundreds of volunteers that work tirelessly all year round to provide our troops with the comforts, treats, and reminders of home. This year, they need your help more than ever. Because of Coronavirus restrictions, nearly all of the group’s fundraisers have been canceled or postponed. The Yellow Ribbon Girls is looking for your support to provide Christmas treasures and supplies to deployed troops this upcoming holiday season. The campaign, named “Please Help Save Christmas For Our Deployed Troops!”, aims to ship between 150 and 200 Christmas packages full of decorations, holiday treats, basic supplies and gifts. The postage on last year’s 300 X-Large Christmas care packages was $14,000.00.  Sadly, in 2020 almost all of the fundraising opportunities have been postponed or canceled. Yellow Ribbon Girls To Host Spagehetti Dinner

The Yellow Ribbon Girls will be hosting a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser to help with the monthly shipping costs on the care packages they mail around the world to our deployed troops “Each month between 80- 90 care packages are shipped.  Currently, we are shipping to 13 countries,” said Yellow Ribbon Representative, Bonnie Phillippi. The Yellow Ribbon Girls, which are based out of Ellwood City, have a Carnival coming up on August 11 with proceeds to benefit the Yellow Ribbon Girls Care Package Postage Fund.
