Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Keystone Oaks

Ellwood City fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-4 loss to Keystone Oaks in the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals Wednesday. The Wolverines lost despite out-hitting Keystone Oaks 11 to seven.  Keystone Oaks collected four of their hits in a six-run first inning. Lady Wolverines Collect Another Upset, Advance In WPIAL Playoffs

The Ellwood City Wolverines softball team rallied and nabbed the lead late in an 11-10 victory over South Allegheny on Monday in the second round of the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs. The victory over the #2 seed South Allegheny team was the Wolverines second consecutive extra-inning victory after knocking off Freeport last week. Lady Wolverines Stave Off Freeport, Advance In WPIAL Playoffs

The Lady Wolverines withstood two furious comeback attempts by Freeport, finally advancing with a wild 14-11 victory over Freeport on Thursday. Freeport rallied back from an 8-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the sixth to take a 9-8 lead, and later answered an Ellwood City three-run seventh to force extra innings. Lady Wolverines Easily Dispatch Hopewell

The Ellwood City Wolverines varsity softball team easily dispatched Hopewell 11-1 on Thursday afternoon at Steifel Park. The Wolverines tallied five runs in the third inning to blow the game open after being staked to a one-run lead in the first inning. Angie Nardone, Mollie Street, and Kali Barnett all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the third.
