Upcoming BC3 Clinics To Help Girls Gain Volleyball Skills

Girls as young as fifth-graders can develop skills in volleyball by attending Butler County Community College clinics directed by a BC3 head coach whose players have won 475 matches and earned 14 All-American awards. BC3’s winter skills clinic Jan. 25 will be followed by one-day spring skills clinics that will also be held on Saturdays in February, March and April. Wolverines Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season With Victory Over Shenango

The Ellwood City girls volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 victory over Shenango on Thursday evening as part of its senior night. After falling behind 2-1, the playoff-bound Lady Wolverines dispatched the Wildcats with victories in the final two sets to secure the section victory. The victory improved the Lady Wolverines record to 13-4 for the 2024 regular season. The team finished 9-3 in the WPIAL Class 2A Section 4, good for second place behind Neshannock. The Panthers girls volleyball team earned a thrilling 5-set match victory over rival Ellwood City in a Riv-Ell Cup matchup Thursday evening at Riverside High School The Lady Panthers jumped out to a two set advantage before the visiting Wolverines rallied back to tie the match at two sets apiece. Riverside then earned the rivalry victory with a 15-12 victory in the fifth and deciding set. The Wolverines remained unbeaten with victories over Shenango and Riverside this week. Ellwood City now holds a 12-0 record on the season. On Thursday, Ellwood City defeated its rival Riverside 207-224 at Connoquenessing Country Club. Junior Jordan Keller went low, recording a match-low round of 37 to lead the Wolverines. The Ellwood City boys golf team ran their unbeaten streak to ten games on Thursday with a 198-242 victory over Union at Delmar Golf Course. Three Wolverines fired rounds in the 30’s in the victory – Jordan Keller led the charge with a 36 while Gino Biondi and Braden Roberts each chipped in with rounds of 39. The Ellwood City Wolverines Co-Ed Cross Country Team and Co-Ed Golf teams each collected victories last week to continue their respective winning streaks. Golf has now won four straight matches after losing four of their previous five matches. The longest losing streak (27 games) in the WPIAL is officially over as the Wolverines cruised to their first victory in 4 years, defeating the Carlynton Cougars 46-6 on Friday night. The Cougars started the night off with electing to receive the ball after winning the coin toss, showing that they wanted to start on offense early.
