Ellwood City Volleyball Defeats Freedom on Senior Night

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team easily dispatched Freedom Tuesday evening to remain undefeated on its season. The girls defeated the visiting Bulldogs (1-8 overall) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, and 25-8 to earn its eleventh victory of the season. The victory came on senior night for the girls volleyball team.  The EC junior varsity team also collected a straight set victory (25-11, 25-13) to bring its record to 7-4 on the season. Sesti Leads EC Golf; EC Volleyball & Cross Country Remain Undefeated

Milo Sesti led the Ellwood City boys golf team to victory on Tuesday while the Ellwood City girls volleyball team and the Ellwood City co-ed cross country team were each victorious and both remain unbeaten. For the boys golf team, the 198-225 victory over Shenango at Delmar Golf Course was led by Sesti’s round of 36. Joining Sesti in the 30’s was Joey Hudson who finished with a round of 39 for the Wolverines. The Ellwood City Girls Varsity tennis team came away with a 4-1 victory over rival Riverside on Monday. The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team collected two victories this week with a victory over Laurel on Monday and a second, resounding victory over New Brighton on Tuesday. On Monday, the girls team survived a second set scare from the Spartans, but were able to dispatch Laurel in straight sets, 25-14, 27-25, and 25-20. Ellwood City School Directors Approve Personnel, Spring Coaches

The Ellwood City School Board Directors voted during Thursday’s board meeting to approve personnel hires. Among the appointments were Michael Elmer who was hired as an instructional aide and David Poore and Megan Rosenberger were approved as mentors for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Heidi Feltrop, secondary librarian was granted tenure. The Ellwood City Lady Wolverines volleyball team fell to top-seeded, and defending champion North Catholic (17-0) in WPIAL quarterfinal action on Tuesday. The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team capped senior night in victorious fashion, defeating the visiting Laurel Spartans Tuesday evening. Five Wolverine volleyball seniors were recognized before the match.
