Riverside Baseball Beats Freedom; Softball Shuts Out New Brighton

The Riverside baseball and softball teams each collected victories on Friday afternoon. The boys baseball team jumped out early with four first inning runs en route to a 7-2 home victory over Freedom. Jackson Barber, Dylan Meyer, and BrockJames each collected two hits as part of the nine hit offensive performance by the Panthers.  Meyer walked twice and collected a team-high two RBIs on the afternoon. Dylan Meyer singled in the bottom of the eight inning at Riverside earned a 5-4 extra-inning walk-off victory Wednesday afternoon over Mohawk. Logan Young collected three hits in four at bats to lead the offensive charge. Young singled in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the eighth inning. In a monumental pitching dual, the Riverside Panthers outlasted South Park in extra innings Friday evening to advance to the WPIAL Class 3A Championship Game for a third consecutive year.
