Riv-Ell Presentations: Food trucks, Mobile Florists, Special-Service Funeral Homes

Eleven seniors at Lincoln High School and four at Riverside presented business plans April 25 as the capstone project in a Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship Program and in pursuit of a 16-credit Butler County Community College workplace certificate in entrepreneurship funded by donors. Record 15 Riv-Ell Students Pitch Business Plans

A record 15 high school seniors profiting from a yearlong Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship Program pitched business plans April 25 that impressed Ellwood City area leaders and in pursuit of graduating from Butler County Community College on May 15 with a 16-credit workplace certificate funded by donors. The 11 Lincoln and four Riverside seniors in 2023-2024 represent the largest group to seek the post-secondary credential in a 6-year-old program that combines academic coursework with practical experiences. On Friday, May 3rd the annual Ellwood City Lincoln High School Prom “A Night With The Stars” will be held at the Timber House in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Prior to arriving at the Timber House, students will participate in the annual LHS Promenade held at the Leslie Sabo Memorial Auditorium. When the members of the Lincoln High School Class of 1969 received their diplomas, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission and the Woodstock festival rocked a farm in upstate New York for three days. Two Ellwood City Schools To Operate Remotely Monday Due To Heating Issues

According to information made available by the district Monday morning, Lincoln High School and Hartman Intermediate School will be closed and operate on a FID (Flexible Instruction Day) on Monday, April 22, 2024 due to maintenance issues. ELLWOOD, in partnership with Lawrence County School-to-Work, hosted their 18th annual High School Engineering Day on Thursday, March 7, at ELLWOOD City Forge. More than 20 students from area high schools visited the ELLWOOD location to learn about engineering careers and more. Natural Gas Odor Forces Brief Evacuation At Lincoln High School

An odor of natural gas detected in a Lincoln High School storage room Thursday morning, forcing a brief evacuation of the high school. This according to the Ellwood City Area School District and superintendent Wes Shipley. “We evacuated the building to Hartman while Columbia Gas and the local fire department investigated,” said Shipley in an emailed statement Friday. Both Columbia Gas and the fire department noted that the levels of gas in the air were minute and were not at an explosive level. In addition the Carbon Monoxide levels were never a concern according to Shipley. “With their help, our…
