Wolves Club Hosts Picnic To Honor Riverside Baseball Team

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday, August 9th at their Shelter in Ewing Park and honored the Riverside High School Baseball Team. A picnic was held to honor the accomplishments of the team who went undefeated in their regular season, competed and won in both the WPIAL Championship and the PIAA State Championship. The Panthers are the first WPIAL team to win a state baseball title with a perfect record. The Club recognizes area residents and school sports teams under their Pro Bono Publico Award. Pickleball Court a “Hit” in Ewing Park

If you have noticed something new this year in Ewing Park … it’s probably the pickleball court. Councilwoman Judith Dici saw the sport growing in popularity and when she realized that it was a sport that many ages and skill levels could enjoy, she decided to bring the idea to Ellwood City Borough Council. The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at their shelter in Ewing Park. Each year the Wolves Club hosts an appreciation dinner for their members, their wives and significant others who have volunteered at their three fundraisers during the year. Sixty four members attended the steak dinner prepared by their members Bob Delisio, Matt Wally and Chuck Houk. Ellwood City Cheerleaders Hosting Color Run On August 12th

The Ellwood City Cheerleaders will be hosting its 5k Color Run in August. The event is its annual 5k the cheerleaders host each year with the exception of 2020 because of COVID-19. The run is fun for all ages and athletic abilities. The run consists of participants going through the nature trail and circling around Ewing Park. “Some people walk the 5k and some are more serious and want to run,” says LHS Cheer Booster Tresurer, Nicole DiCerbo. The 3rd Annual Dog Days of Summer, which is sponsored by Reeds Services, and benefits police K9s took place on Saturday and Sunday in Ewing Park. Forces having K9s is a dying program because of the lack of funding available according to Chad Reed of Reed’s Services. Reed has said that as pet lovers and advocates of community safety, he is dedicated to continuing this program into the future. Ellwood City Tennis To Host Mini Clinic

Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on June 26th, 27th, and 28th, 2023 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10:00 a.m to 11:15 a.m. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. The Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt returned to the grounds of Ewing Park on Saturday, this year under new guidance. The Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2023 Easter Egg Hunt event after the prior committee retired and turned the event over to the new guidance. The free community event was most hippity-hoppity and featured pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, and of course – egg hunting!  The event handed out over 15,000 eggs! Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Coming To Ewing Park

The Ellwood City American Legion Post 157 is hosting the Vietnam Moving Wall in Ewing Park on August 18th through August 22nd. The event is free to the public. The Moving Wall will be located in the same area of Ewing Park as the Festival. Ellwood City Summer Playground Program To Begin June 15

The Borough of Ellwood City is now taking registration forms for its Summer Playground Program for residents of Ellwood City. The program will begin on Wednesday, June 15th and it will run Monday through Friday (weather permitting and excluding holiday breaks), from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The program is for children 5-12 years of age. Lunch will be provided. A rainy forecast did not deter hundreds of hoppy-go-lucky kids from taking part in the annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt in Ewing Park on Saturday. The event started at 11:00 a.m. amid overcast skies and ran throughout the early afternoon with hunts for all ages. Additional events included a petting zoo, pony rides, trackless train, and a Kid’s Zone in the Rotary Shelter, which featured crafts, face painting, games and various other activities in the Bocce Court will be games.
