Beautification Awards 2017

Mayor Court has announced today that the Ellwood City community will once again turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bring the neighborhoods back to life for everyone to enjoy. This will be the 7th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who are nominated for taking pride in their properties throughout Ellwood City. All residents are encouraged to participate, by displaying your talents in your landscaping or nominating someone you feel has made their property stand out in the neighborhood. State Low-Interest Loan to Help North Sewickley Township Fire Department Purchase Truck, Says Bernstine

BEAVER FALLS – State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-New Beaver) announced today that Pennsylvania’s Volunteer Loan Assistance Program has approved a $200,000 low-interest loan for the North Sewickley Township Volunteer Fire Department. Ellwood City Bald Eagles Return to Nest

A walk to the natural trail at Rodger’s Park yesterday confirmed the eagles of Ellwood City have again returned to their nest to raise this years hatchlings! Along the banks of the Connoquenessing Creek in Wayne Township is a family of bald eagles. Every year, since 2010, the couple has returned to the same nest to raise eaglets. To find the nest, drive to Rodger’s Park in Ellport, colloquially referred to as “The Hole,” and walk down the nature trail toward the Connoquenessing and several islands. Four RBI Day for Magill Leads Wolverines Past Freedom Area

Wolverines defeated Freedom Area 16-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to Brooklyn Magill, who drove in four runners. Magill drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the fourth, and a single in the fifth. Wolverines collected 16 hits. Brooklyn Magill, Eisabela Miller, Zoe Kalantzis, Anna Ferrucci, and Reagan Mittler each collected multiple hits for Wolverines. Miller and Magill. On Sunday, April 9, 2017 The Tamburitzans from Pittsburgh PA performed in Ellwood City. Mayor Court proclaimed April 9, 2019 as “Tamburitzans Day” in Ellwood City, by presenting a Proclamation at the Ellwood City Rotary Club meeting in March. Riverside Panthers Varsity and New Brighton played a taut affair on Thursday, but Riverside Panthers Varsity eventually prevailed 7-4 after taking the lead for good in the fifth inning. 2017: Predictably Bad Year for Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is spreading wildly across eastern America, with Pennsylvania leading the nation for the most reported cases. Last years numbers were a skyrocketing 12,000+ cases – almost half of the entire reported yearly cases in the USA and three times the amount of the runner up state, New York. Ellwood City Wolverines fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Riverside on Wednesday.
