The United Fund Board announced last week that it will no longer be holding its annual fund drive. The annual fund drive provided funds for the service agencies that serve the Ellwood City community. The United Funds annual year runs from September 1 2019 to August 31, 2020. The United Fund will accept any and all donations up to August 31, 2020 and distribute them to the agencies. The Ellwood City United Fund is still short of its fundraising goal, says Andrew Kindle, treasurer of the United Fund. The United Fund campaign started on October 1, 2019, Kindle reports that as of November 15, 2019 the total contributions received are $16, 900.00 which equates to about 30 percent below the goal set for this time period. United Fund Releases First Allocation of 2019 Campaign Funds

Connie MacDonald, president of the Ellwood City United Fund, announced Friday the United Fund would issue its first allocation of collected funds for 2019. MacDonald stated, “ the service agencies will receive reduced allotments due to the fact, we were unable to meet our annual goal set for the campaign of 2019. Each agency will receive about 30% less then in previous years. The board decided not to use its emergency fund that is reserved for disaster relief. The Ellwood City United Fund Board announced its 2019 annual campaign fund drive last month. The campaign started October 1, 2018 and will conclude January 31, 2019. The Boards Selection Committee has chosen six service agencies to seek funds for the year 2019. The Agencies selected: City Rescue Mission, L.A.R.K.
