ECPD Completes Tactical Entry & Life Saving Measure Training

The Ellwood City Police Department would like to thank Samuel Teolis for allowing the use of a vacant structure to conduct a tactical entry and life saving measure training. On Thursday, June 9th, the Police Department, along with the Ellwood City Fire Department, utilized Mr. Teolis’s vacant structure to complete this training as a team to assist in keeping our tactics fresh. This training was completed in conjunction with the Ellwood City Fire Department, who provided first-hand knowledge in tactical medical assistance and preservation of life skills. Ellwood City Borough Council Awards Commendations, Hires Police Officers

The Ellwood City Borough Council awarded two commendations during its regular meeting Monday night. The first commendation was given by Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court and Ellwood City Police Sgt. Michael McBride to Darrell Hunt, a street department employee, who was integral in helping the police department solve a recent criminal case. He witnessed the criminal activity and reported it to police. Court said Hunt’s swift actions led to an arrest of the suspects involved. Ellwood City Police Department Receives New Weapons

On December 14th, 2021, the Ellwood City Police Department put into service 5 new shotguns and 5 new AR-15 patrol rifles. The guns were purchased with funds from Drug Seizure Money. These new and improved weapons have replaced weapons that were 25 years old. The new weapons will help the Officers better protect and serve the community. Mayor Court Swears In New Police Officer

This week Mayor Anthony J. Court officially swore in William Daufen as a part-time police officer in the Borough of Ellwood City. “Officer Daufen brings 25 years of experience in law enforcement and is looking forward to working with him – to help protect the law abiding citizens of our community,” said Mayor Court in a statement. MAYOR COURT: Recent Vandalism/Theft Will Not Be Tolerated

Mayor Anthony J. Court is alerting residents of Ellwood City to be on alert for a recent string of vandalism and ‘porch pirate’ thefts of packages in the Ellwood City area. The latest incident of porch piracy was a reported theft of a package dropped off by Amazon at a residence in Ewing Park. “This behavior will not be tolerated and any individual or individuals will be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law,” says Court. ECPD Introduces New Vehicle For K-9 Program

The Ellwood City Police Department brought home its new police K9 vehicle this week. The 2021 Dodge Charger was purchased utilizing funds raised through Reed Services as well as assistance other generous donors and fundraisers. Reed Services, Sgt. Michael McBride as well as K9 Officer Richard Kruger will be going to Shallow Creek Kennel on February 7, 2022 to meet with the representatives and to choose the new K9 for the Ellwood City Police Department. Ellwood City, Franklin Twp Police To Participate In “No Shave November”

Say no to the blade and yes to cancer awareness. This month, both Ellwood City and Franklin Township Police Departments will be participating in ‘No Shave November’, a month-long journey whereby participants ditch razors and forego shaving and grooming facial hair as part of an effort to raise awareness and money to fight cancer. The Ellwood City Police Officers will be putting down their razors and making a monetary donation to Club Hope to help in the fight against cancer. New Ellwood City Police Officer Introduced

The Borough of Ellwood City Police Department has introduced a new police officer this week. Robert Bird II was sworn in as part of the ceremony led by Mayor Anthony Court. Mayor Court swore Officer Bird in as the newest member of the Ellwood City Police Department. Also attending was Borough of Ellwood City Council President George Celli, pictured on left, and Officer Bird’s proud mother, Jodi Barton on the right.

Mayor Court Swears In New Full Time Police Officer

Mayor Anthony J. Court swore in Police Officer James Cunningham into the Ellwood City Police Department. The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office on August 3, 2021. Officer Cunningham is now a full-time officer. The Ellwood City Police Department  now has 11 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department. Mayor Court welcomed Officer Cunningham to the police force and noted that he is looking forward to working with him. In photo (left to right) – Mayor Anthony J. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT:  PSP Beaver responded to a report on June 28th in the Homewood Boro in Beaver. Officers responded to a report of tools being stolen from a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado truck, which was parked in the rear parking lot in the Super 8 Motel. It was discovered that an unknown suspect had stolen a gutter bender, nail gun, air compressor and a jig saw from the truck bed and tool rack of the Silverado. The suspect loaded the said tools into a silver Dodge Caravan, which had a black hood and black trim around the vehicle. Any persons with information…
