Wolverine Wrestling Wraps Up Regular Season, Senior Night

The Ellwood City Wrestling team wrapped up its regular season this week with two matches, including their senior night on Wednesday evening. The team was defeated by Sharon 45-30 at home Wednesday and also fell to Slippery Rock 34-30 on the road Thursday. The team will next look towards tournament On Wednesday, two seniors Jaden Stull (his first year wrestling) and Donavin Stiffler (his second year wrestling) were recognized prior to the match.  For Ellwood City, Ben Gallenz (126 lb) pinned Camden Reiser, 2:34, and Michael Swesey (172 lb) pinned Muawiyah Maani, 0:32 for victories.  Ellwood also earned three victories…


Ellwood City Wrestling Set To Finish Season Strong; Senior Night Wednesday

The Ellwood City Wrestling team is set to have its only home match of the season on Wednesday, February 9th against Sharon. The Wolverines (3-7 Overall, 2-2 League) will recognize its seniors during the home match for a Senior Night festivities. The team features two seniors, Jaden Stull (his first year wrestling) and Donavin Stiffler (his second year wrestling). Ellwood City Wrestling Takes 3rd Place In Section Duals

The Ellwood City Wrestling team posted a 3rd place finish at the WPIAL AA Section 2-A Duals qualifying tournament at Laurel High School Tuesday evening. The team defeated Ambridge and Central Valley but were defeated by Freedom Area and the host Laurel Spartans. The top two teams qualify out of the section for playoffs. Wolverine Wrestling Collects One Win In Laurel Duals Tournament

The Ellwood City Wolverines wrestling team finished 1-4 in the 2021 Laurel Duals wrestling tournament over the weekend at Laurel High School. The Wolverines collected its 39-24 victory over New Castle on Saturday in the opening round of the tournament. Ben Gallenz (106 lb, EC) pinned Kortel Marshal at 0:24 and Rodney Grymes (189 lb, EC) collected a decision victory 11-7 over Noah Shields to lead the Wolverines.  126 – Dom Dausman, 132 – Elijah Shelby, 152 – Ryan Nazari, 160 – Chris Quintanella, and 285 – Donovan Stiffler all collected forfeit victories for Ellwood City. Upcoming Ellwood City Wrestling Season Announced

Interested in wrestling? The Ellwood City Varsity and Junior High Wrestling season is starting soon! The first practice will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020, scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Practices will be Monday thru Friday with optional lifting sessions three times a week at 3:10 p.m. There are temperature checks before every practice/hand sanitizer and the mats cleaned to CDC standards. There are several tournaments the team is planning to attend this season including, Panther Holiday Classic (Varsity Only), Mid-Winter Mayhem (Varsity Only), and West Mifflin Christmas Tournament….


Walley Wins PIAA State Championship, First For LHS

Austin Walley is a state champion. The Ellwood City senior became the first to bring home a PIAA Wrestling Championship for Lincoln High School as he a victory over Dylan Bennett of Montoursville Area HS to claim gold on Saturday. Walley entered the 182-pound Class-AA championship match with only one loss on the season and squared off against an undefeated Bennett (39-0). Walley used a 6-5 decision to knock off Bennett. Austin Walley Collects First WPIAL Title

Ellwood City senior standout Austin Walley collected his first WPIAL Championship over the weekend at the 2020 WPIAL AA Championship in Canon-McMillan, bringing home the first-ever WPIAL title for Ellwood City wrestling. Walley used three consecutive victories via fall during his 182-pound weight class championship run.  Walley defeated Shane Smith of Fort Cherry, Collin Milko of Carlynton, and Patrick Cutchember of Quaker Valley. Wolverines Finish 14th In Buckeye Classic Wrestling Tournament; Walley Takes 1st

On Saturday, the Ellwood City Wolverines wrestling team traveled to Rayland, Ohio for a 26-team Buckeye Local Panther Classic Wrestling Tournament. Ellwood City finished 14th as a team with Austin Walley taking 1st place in his weight class.  Rodney Grymes narrowly missed the medal stand, finishing 4th overall in his 220-pound weight class. Walley used two victories each in under ninety seconds to advance early before battling Howard Congdon of West Mifflin Area in a nearly five-minute match. Ellwood City senior wrestler Austin Walley collected a 195-pound championship in the 2020 Top Gun Tournament held at Alliance High School on Saturday. Walley opened up the tournament with consecutive fall victories before stretching his tournament run to the championship match with two decision victories. Walley defeated West Branch junior Kenny Marra in a 13-7 decision to take the 195-pound weight class championship. Five Ellwood Wrestlers Win Places at MAC, Walley Takes 1st

Five Ellwood City wrestlers earned places at the 2020 Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Championships on Saturday. Austin Walley used four consecutive victories, culminating with a pin over Tristan Larson of Moon Area to capture the 195-pound championship. Walley’s victory was his third consecutive MAC championship.
