Lynn Marie Johnson-Carothers, 57, of Ellwood City, passed away on June 8th 2024 at her residence. Lynn was born on April 6th, 1967 in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late Carl O. “Mo” and Margaret E. “Peg” (Dearth) Johnson. She graduated from Brockton Highschool and later relocated to Ellwood City, PA. Lynn loved spending time with her family, especially when it came to taking them on their annual beach trip to various beaches. She was a proud grandma to her only grandchild Matthew Carothers. Dennis C. Lynch, 67, of North Sewickley Township passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 surrounded by family. Born February 1, 1957 in Phillips, WI, he was the son of the late Kenneth Lynch and Marlene (Rhyner) Lynch Braun. Dennis had a passion for cars; he was a self-employed auto body repairman for most of his life. He enjoyed going to car shows and tinkering with his classic car. Mr. Nathan R. Prestopine, 93, of Ellport, passed away on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at his residence. Nathan was born on May 4th, 1931 to the late Michael J. and Gilda E. (Docchio) Prestopine. He graduated from Lincoln High School, and was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War Era. Nathan worked at U.S. Steel, both in Ellwood City and Ambridge, until it’s closing. John A. Pounds, 60, of Ellwood City passed away on June 27th, 2024 at his residence. John was born on June 27th, 1964 in New Castle, to Ralph L. and Edith (Duncan) Pounds Sr. He graduated from Lincoln High School and was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Slippery Rock.  Before becoming disabled, John worked for his parents’ business, “Park Gate Cleaning Service”.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to classic rock. Dorothy A. Pogozelec, 80, of Chewton passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at her residence. Born February 17, 1944 in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bernice Tedrow. She married the late Bernard J. Pogozelec on June 22, 1963. She was a member of the former St. Monica’s in Wampum, a current member of the Divine Grace Parish in Ellwood City, and a longtime member of the Wampum Women’s Club. Melvin “Mel” Straley, 88, of Wampum PA passed away at Heritage Valley Medical Center on Friday, June 21st, 2024. Mel was born, raised and lived in Wampum PA. He was born on November 28th, 1935 to the late Robert Ellis and Josephine Straley and was one of 11 children. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City PA and went on to get his undergraduate degree from Geneva College. Robert L Hackett, 86, of Possum Hollow Road Wampum died on Saturday, June 22nd following an extended illness at his home. Born January 21, 1938 in New Castle, PA. He was the second of four children to Hansel “Jack” and Esther (McQuiston) Hackett He graduated from Wampum High School in 1955.
