Joan Snyder, 89, of West Pittsburg passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Haven Convalescent Nursing Home, New Castle, Pennsylvania. Born June 18, 1935 in West Pittsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Mae Valentine Schultz. She married Thomas E. Snyder on June 20, 1959. They were married for 56 years when he passed away on March 5, 2016. Joan was a member of the former Holy Cross Church, now Holy Spirit Parish. Mrs. Mary Ann Burgess, 83, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at the Avalon Care Center in New Castle. Mrs. Burgess was born in Ellwood City on September 16th, 1941 to the late Edward and Antanette (DeCaria) Cortez. For a little over ten years Mary Ann worked at Heraeus in Ellwood City. She is a member of the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Mary Ann enjoyed crafting, doing yardwork, holiday decorating, and playing bingo. Mrs. Cheryl A. Shirley, 69, of North Sewickley Township passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 with her loving family at her bedside. Cheryl was born in Rochester, PA on March 16th, 1955 to the late Edward E. and Phillis (Holman) Britton. Over the years Cheryl worked as a waitress at various places in the area, many of those years at the Hazel Manor when it was owned by Reno Augostino. Mrs. June K. Locke, 84, of Franklin Township passed away on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at the Heritage Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Locke was born on March 21st, 1940 in Ellwood City to the late Frances and Mary (Murphy) Haswell. Over the years, June worked at the McGuire Memorial Home, Leeds & Northrup, Fotia Brothers, and Alsy Lighting. She loved doing yard work especially flower gardening and going to flea markets. Fred E. Bennett, 94, of Fombell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at his residence. Born May 1, 1930 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Bender Bennett. A proud Army Veteran, Fred served from 1952-1954. He formerly owned F.E. Bennett excavating and retired from Herr-Voss in Rochester where he worked as a truck driver. After his retirement he worked in maintenance at Camp Kon-O-Kwee.
