Four Panthers scored to propel Riverside to a 28-0 road victory over the Wolverines Friday night during the Ellwood City Senior Night. After a scoreless first frame, backers Robert Janis and Noah George collected touchdown runs in the second quarter to help the visiting Panthers to an early 14-0 lead. In the third quarter Riverside quarterback Samuel Hughes found Ayden Garcia on a 10-yard touchdown pass and Hughes capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 10 yard touchdown scamper. Fluharty, Wissinger, Custer Qualify For PIAA Cross Country Championships

Three local athletes have qualified for the upcoming PIAA State Cross Country Championships. Riverside junior Lexi Fluharty finished runner-up Thursday afternoon in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships held at California University of Pennsylvania. Fluharty finished with a time 19:58.4. Joining Fluharty in qualifying for next week’s state championships is fellow junior Brooke Wissinger who finished with a 9th place time of 21:38.4. Wilmington Hockey Earns First Victory Of Season, Defeats Central Valley 9-5

The Wilmington Hockey team defeated Central Valley 9-5 at Hess Ice Rink Monday evening, earning its first victory of the young season. On Monday, Andrew Cartwright (Union) and Noah King (Wilmington) each collected five points to lead Wilmington offensive charge. BC3 Volleyball Wins Region 20 Crown, Earns Berth To North Carolina

On her final pass in her last home game, All-American Morgan Jack set up the kill Saturday that sent the No. 1-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team to a district championship tournament in North Carolina and the setter to the top of BC3’s career list in assists. The kill by fellow All-American Breanna Reisinger completed BC3’s sweep of Howard Community College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region 20 championship tournament in BC3’s Field House. Riverside made easy work of the visiting Lions Friday night and claimed a playoff berth with their 52-7 blow out victory over New Brighton. The Panthers raced out to early leads of 20-0 after one quarter and a 40-0 advantage at halftime in the Midwestern Athletic Conference action. Riverside Girls Soccer Earn Playoff Berth, Await Rematch With GCC

The Riverside Girls Soccer team wrapped up its regular season last week with a 4-0 victory over Sewickley Academy. The victory wrapped up a 4-6 regular season for the Lady Panthers, good enough for a 12-seed in the 16 team WPIAL Class-A Soccer Playoffs.  When the bracket was announced, the Panthers found themselves pair up with a familiar foe in their first round match up – Greensburg Central Catholic. All-American and Lincoln High School graduate Breanna Reisinger had nine kills as the No. 1-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team won an unprecedented seventh consecutive Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship Saturday with a victory against the Community College of Beaver County. The Pioneers in BC3’s Field House swept CCBC 25-13, 25-15 and 25-11 in the final and Westmoreland County Community College 25-14, 25-7 and 25-10 in a semifinal of the WPCC championship tournament. Ellwood City Fall Baseball Teams Both Earn Playoff Appearances; JV Defeated In Championship

The Ellwood City High School baseball teams wrapped up their respective fall campaigns with a combined 23-7 record between varsity and junior varsity with playoff appearances obtained by each squad. The teams were compromised of 36 players ranging from 7th grade to 12th grade. Varsity finished 10-4 (2-1 in playoffs) and missed the championship game by one run tie-breaker while the Junior Varsity finished an impressive 13-3 regular season campaign (3-1 in playoffs) and reach the championship game, falling 12-8 to the Blackhawk Cougars. PHOTOS: Riverside Homecoming Game, Panthers Fall To Western Beaver

The Riverside Panthers were defeated Friday night 49-21 by Western Beaver at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Running back Tyson Florence had a big game for Western Beaver, scoring six touchdowns in the victory over Riverside. The home game was the Riverside Homecoming with Elizabeth Frazier crowned the Riverside 2022 Homecoming Queen at halftime. The Golden Beavers improved to 6-1 on the regular season with the Riverside Panthers fell to an even 3-3 on their regular season campaign.
