Justin Hand Ties Tiffin University Single Round Record, Helping Dragons Finish 4th at Doc Spragg

Riverside graduate Justin Hand tied the Tiffin University record with a 6-under par 66 at the Doc Spragg Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay in September.

Hand led the Dragons to a 4th place finish at the invitational held on Tuesday, September 21st.

The Dragons shot a invite-best 290 in round three, improving from 293 in round one and 291 in round two. Indianapolis won with 851, followed by Missouri-St. Louis with 868 and Findlay with 869. Tiffin was right behind with 874.

Hand had a blistering third round, chopping 9 strokes off his first two rounds where he shot 75 in each. The 66 gave him a three-round total of 216, tying David Siegel for the team lead in 10th place. Siegel also had a great third round, shooting 70 after rounds of 71 and 75.

Noah Barth was third for TU with 222, falling off in round three by 7 strokes from his solid start in the first two rounds (71-72), while Michael Weppernig stayed consistent with 76-73-75 for 224. Nico Kyprian also had a tough third round, shooting 79 after peaking at 71 in round two. Overall he finished with 227.

Hand signed with Tiffin University in 2019 after a stellar high school golf career.  At Riverside High School, Justin was First Team All-State one year, First Team All-Conference all four years, a US Junior Am Qualifier, the school record holder with a -9 63, the WPIAL record holder with a -9 63, an ESMARK All-American, and a four-year captain of the golf team.
