Ellwood City Boys Claim Tri-County Cross Country Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country Team has claimed the 2021 Tri-County Championship. The Wolverines runners collected its victory in wet, soggy conditions at Shenango High School, finishing (39) and besting Shenango (64), Neshannock (81), Mohawk (88), Laurel (117),  and Riverside (129). “I am very happy with the teams performance,” said head coach Mark Hall. “I do believe they all got personal best times for the year.” The boys finished unbeaten and claimed the WPIAL Section 1-1A title, and now have won back-to-back Tri-County Championships. Sam Hughes scampered for two touchdowns to lead the Riverside Panthers to their first victory of the season, a 19-0 victory over rival Ellwood City on Friday night during Homecoming at Riverside’s Memorial Stadium. Madeline Dimeo was named Riverside Homecoming Queen during halftime. Hughes, who finished with 90 yards rushing, scored from 21 years and 19 yards while Brady Barton found the endzone on a 45 yard touchdown for the Panthers (1-4, 1-6 overall). GOLF: Greer Qualifies For PIAA Championships, Riverside Team Qualifies For WPIALs

Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event. Greer fired an 8-over round of 78 (40-38) on the afternoon. Steady on the front nine with four pars and only five bogies, Greer collected his only birdie of his round with a three on the par-4 17th hole. Ellwood City Cross Country Claims Undefeated Section Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship. For the Wolverines, this is their second consecutive undefeated section championship season under head coach Mark Hall. “I couldn’t be more proud of this whole team,” says Hall. Rob Snyder won his 400th career game as coach of the Butler County Community College volleyball team Monday night as the Pioneers swept Penn State-Beaver at BC3’s Field House. Breanna Reisinger, a freshman outside hitter and graduate of Lincoln High in Ellwood City, led the Pioneers with four aces and added seven kills against the Nittany Lions. “Rob,” Reisinger said, “was very quiet about this.
