Keller Claims MAC Boys Golf Championship, Ellwood City Finishes 5th Overall

Jordan Keller collected the MAC Individual Championship on Tuesday afternoon at Fox Run Golf Course. The junior golfer finished with a 4-under round of 68. Wolverines Outlast Neshannock For Rain-Soaked Victory

Not even a one-hour rain delay could keep Ellwood City from earning a one-score victory over Neshannock Friday night. The 28-21 rain-soaked victory was the Wolverines first win over the Lancers since 2005. Ellwood City drove 69 yards on its opening possession and took a 7-0 lead when quarterback Chris Smiley scored on an 11-yard option keeper midway through the first quarter. The Wolverines remained unbeaten with victories over Shenango and Riverside this week. Ellwood City now holds a 12-0 record on the season. On Thursday, Ellwood City defeated its rival Riverside 207-224 at Connoquenessing Country Club. The Ellwood City boys golf team ran their unbeaten streak to ten games on Thursday with a 198-242 victory over Union at Delmar Golf Course. Three Wolverines fired rounds in the 30’s in the victory – Jordan Keller led the charge with a 36 while Gino Biondi and Braden Roberts each chipped in with rounds of 39. Ellwood City Varsity Football Game Versus Shenango Postponed

Due to the tragic circumstances surrounding an unexpected death of a Shenango student this week, the Ellwood City varsity football game versus Shenango scheduled for Friday has been postponed. “First, and most importantly, our thoughts, prayers and support are directed toward our friends at Shenango,” said Ellwood City Superintendent Wes Shipley in an emailed statement. “We are deeply saddened to acknowledge that a 17-year-old student at Shenango High School tragically passed away yesterday evening,” Superintendent Dr. Joseph McCormick said in a statement Wednesday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends.” Ellwood City is attempting to reschedule…

The Ellwood City Wolverines football team picked up a season opening victory on the road Friday night, edging Laurel 14-7 in overtime. Ellwood City may have earned a narrow victory, but Elijah Palmer-McCane made a huge mark in the record books. The senior running back finished with 146 rushing yards, adding two touchdowns in the contest, to become the Ellwood City Wolverines all-time career rushing leader. The annual Panther Night was held Thursday at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Panther Night is a community event celebrating back to school and Fall sports teams and kicked off with the Riverside Marching Band performing and the introduction of the athletes. The event features food booths run buy many of the district booster organizations along with two food trucks and an array of apparel offerings available to help support student athletes as well. The Riverside Panthers Varsity Football team hosts Northgate on Friday, August 30th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off its regular season.


EC Girls Golf Picks Up First Win of Season, Boys Golf Remains Undefeated

The Ellwood City girls golf team picked up their first win of the regular season Thursday while the boys team keeps on winning. The girls golf team earned their first win of the season Thursday afternoon, knocking off Mohawk 211-217 at Delmar Golf Course. Rori Minerd paced the Lady Wolverines with a low match score of 47. Tickets for the Ellwood City Wolverines Fall Sport Season will be sold on-line at gofan.co or the Go Fan app. Ellwood City will be slowly making the change to digital ticketing for all sports. There will be no tickets sold at the school at this time.  There will be a limited amount  of Adult tickets, $5.00, that can be purchased at the gate for each home game this season. Three Wolverine golfers went low on Monday to help Ellwood City remain unbeaten as they knocked off rival Riverside 199-220 at Del Mar Golf Course.
