RIVERSIDE SWIMMING SETS RECORDS, BUT DEFEATED BY BLACKHAWK The Riverside boys and girls team had their first official section meet of the season against Blackhawk Thursday evening and, as expected, tensions were high and the cheering was loud. Although an individual team record was set and a relay team collected a major victory, the Riverside boys also fell to Blackhawk 88-87. Lady Wolverines Earn 62-40 Victory Over Rival Riverside

The Ellwood City girls basketball traveled across the mighty Connoqunessing River Thursday evening and earned a 62-40 victory over rival Riverside. The Lady Wolverines jumped out to an early 21-8 advantage after the first quarter and did not relinquish the lead as three players scored in double figures. Claire Noble (18 points) and Kayla Jones (13 points) each drained two 3-pointers to helped the offensive charge. ECABF Set To Host Winter Clinic

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation (ECABF) will host a weekly winter clinic set to begin Sunday, January 14th. The clinic will be held at the Ellwood City Family Center, on College Street, in Ellwood City and take place from January 14th through March 24th (no clinic will be held on 1/28/24) Farm (7-8): 12:00PM – 1:00PM Minor (9-10): 1:15PM – 2:15PM Little League (11-12): 2:30PM – 3:30PM **age as of 04/30/24** Online Registration is not required to attend clinic. McDade, Fox Combine to Lead Panthers To 69-58 Victory Over Lions

The inside-outside duo of Darren McDade and Drake Fox combined to score 36 points as the Riverside Panthers defeated New Brighton 69-58 Wednesday night. Fox drained four 3-pointers on the evening while McDade poured in 12 first half points to lead the victors. The Panthers led 33-32 at halftime and erupted for 24 points in a pivotal third quarter to stretch their advantage. Registration Open For Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Spring Baseball

Registration is open for 2024 Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation spring baseball and continues through February 11th. Register early and take advantage of volunteer fee discount Six levels of league play are Tee Ball (age 4-6), Farm (age 7-8), Minor (age 9-10), Little League (age 11-12), Pony League (age 13-24), and Colt League (age 15-17). EC Basketball Teams Net Two Christmas Tournament Championships

The Ellwood City boys and girls basketball team each netted a Christmas Tournament championship Thursday evening. First, the Wolverines boys team easily dismantled Maplewood 62-22 to capture the Mercer Christmas Tournament championship. Nine players, including all five starters, scored in the victory. Colten Crizer scored a game-high 13 points while Ryan Widmaier scored a career-high 12 points off the bench. Joseph Roth stuffed the stat sheet and finished with 12 points (two 3-pointers), 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 7 blocks. Wolverines Basketball Teams Each Collect Tournament Victories

A pair of big men led the offensive charge Wednesday night for the Ellwood City boys basketball team as they picked up a victory over Redbank Valley in the Mercer Christmas Tournament. Aaron Lake – who finished with a career high 22 points – and Joseph Roth combined to score 53 points in the Wolverines 77-71 victory. Ellwood City led 37-33 at halftime behind Lake’s 16 first half points. Ellwood City Wrestling Picks Up Victory Over Summit Academy

The Ellwood City Wrestling team improved their regular season record to 4-3 after its 48-18 victory over Summit Academy on Wednesday. Seven Wolverines wrestlers collected victories by pin fall on Wednesday. Cheyenne Berglund (114 lb), Logan Shriver (127 lb), Gavin McClure (139 lb), Shannon Sikes (145 lb), Colton Gullo (152 lb), Gabe Lilly (160 lb), and Evan Twedell (215 lb) all collected individual victories in their weight class match. Wolverines Basketball Teams Each Rout New Brighton

The Ellwood City Girls Basketball Team routed New Brighton 69-15 Monday night, improving their record to 5-1 on the young season. Kayla Jones poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the offensive charge as the visiting Wolverines. Ellwood City used an impressive 22-1 first quarter spurt to quickly dismantle the Lions as the Wolverines led 48-4 at halftime. Williams Accepts Softball Scholarship With Fairmont State University

Last week, Riverside senior shortstop Mia Williams signed to continue her athletic career at Fairmont State University. Williams has started and lettered the past three years of varsity softball and has been named the Beaver County Times Athlete of the Week. As a junior, Williams doubled and collected three RBIs to help lead the Lady Panthers to the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Playoffs for the first since 2013. Williams is going to study nursing at Fairmont State University.
