First Year Coach Looks Forward To Leading Riverside Co-Ed Swimming

The Riverside boys swimming team enters the 2023-24 season as a five-time undefeated section champions, and this year will look to add another under the direction of new head coach Alaina Marshall. Marshall replaces Gwen Nulph who accepted a coach position earlier this year as Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach at Grove City College. Panthers Split Tip-Off Tournament, Turn Focus To Regular Season

The Riverside Panthers boys basketball regular season got under way this past week as the team traveled to participate in two, separate tip-off tournaments. The team settled with a split, defeating Wilmington on Friday before falling to Mercer on Saturday. On Friday, Drake Fox erupted for 20 points to lead the Panthers to its 49-26 victory. The junior connected on four 3-pointers. Riverside held a sizeable 27-11 halftime advantage on its way to the tournament victory. Come out for the madness and support the Ellwood City Wolverines for their Winter Sports Preview TONIGHT, Wednesday, November 29th, at Lincoln High School. Ellwood City Wrestling Eyes Continued Growth, Playoffs

The Ellwood City Wrestling team under the direction of coach John Fleming is eyeing a playoff berth this season. Along with continued growth within the program, Fleming points out the Wolverines team will grow in numbers as well and have its biggest squad under his watch with a handful of football players joining the team for the 2023-24 campaign. Congratulations to Claire Noble who signed her National Letter of Intent Wednesday to continue her academic and basketball career at Clarion University. Claire Noble, a senior standout athlete at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue her academic and athletic career at Clarion University. A High Honor student who was recently selected as the Lion’s Club Student of the Month, Noble, is a 6’0” guard/forward who earned a scholarship to play Women’s Basketball for the Golden Eagles. Fluharty Takes 3rd Overall At PIAA Championships, Ellwood City Boys Place 7th Overall

Riverside Panther senior Lexi Fluharty posted a 3rd overall finish in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country individual championships at Parkview XC Course in Hershey, PA on Saturday. Fluharty, who won the WPIAL Championship last month, finished with an overall time of 19:28 on Saturday. Her time and finish was the best finish by a WPIAL District 7 participant. Tickets Available For Wolverines Opening Round Playoff Contest

Ellwood City has qualified for the WPIAL playoffs for the first time since 2011. The #14 seeded Wolverines will travel to face the #3 seeded Washington Prexies on Friday at 7:00 PM at Washington High School Stadium. Kick off is 7:00 p.m. for the opening round contest. Tickets for Ellwood City Football playoff game are available on GoFan.co Cost of tickets will be $5.00 for Student and $7.00 for Adults on the GoFan.co website. Tickets will also be sold at the gate. PHOTOS: Wolverines Run Past Panthers, Clinch First Playoff Berth Since 2011

Ellwood City used a strong running game powered by Elijah Palmer-McCane to rout Riverside 41-0 Friday Night at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The ‘RivEll Cup’ victory also clinched the Wolverines first playoff berth since 2011. Palmer-McCane scored four first half rushing touchdowns as the visiting Wolverines jumped out to a 35-0 halftime advantage. In the first quarter, Palmer-McCane scored from 1-yard out and later in the quarter from 41-yards out. Fluharty Claims WPIAL Individual Championship, Ellwood City Finishes 3rd Overall

Lexi Fluharty finished 1st Overall in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships at White Oak Park in McKeesport on Thursday. The Riverside senior finished with a time of 18:54.50.  Fellow Panther runners Brooke Wissinger (20:48.10) and Isabella D’Allessandro (30:39.90) helped pace the Riverside team effort in the girls Class-A Championships. All three Lady Panthers have qualified for the upcoming PIAA State Championships.  The Mohawk Warriors claimed the team championship, with a total team score of 127 – just one point ahead of Riverview and Winchester Thurston. Lady Wolverines Earn Opening Round Playoff Victory, Advance To Face Avonworth

Claire Noble led Ellwood City to their straight set victory over Central Valley Monday evening in the prelim round of the WPIAL 2A playoffs. “It was great to give our seniors one last game on our home court with the excitement of post-season play,” said head coach Jenna Ricciuti. Noble finished with 12 kills in the home victory for the Wolverines.
