Wolverines Knock Off New Brighton 74-66

Kaleb Servick erupted for 17 second half points and Maykel Cuevas and Chris Smiley each knocked home three 3-pointers to lead Ellwood City to a 74-66 victory over New Brighton Friday night. The sophomore guard finished with 21 points (10-15 field goals, five assists, four steals) in the contest. Jackson Kerr scored a career high 21 points to lead Ellwood City to its Riv-Ell Cup victory over Riverside Tuesday night. The Wolverines raced out ahead early and poured in eight three pointers in the contest as they cruised to the 84-59 victory. Gabriella Finch and Delana Fox each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a narrow 40-37 Riv-Ell victory over Ellwood City Monday night at Lincoln High School. All five starters scored for Riverside in its victory. Upcoming BC3 Clinics To Help Girls Gain Volleyball Skills

Girls as young as fifth-graders can develop skills in volleyball by attending Butler County Community College clinics directed by a BC3 head coach whose players have won 475 matches and earned 14 All-American awards. BC3’s winter skills clinic Jan. 25 will be followed by one-day spring skills clinics that will also be held on Saturdays in February, March and April. Balanced Scoring Attacks From Both Teams Lead Wolverines To Sweep of Tigers

Seven Wolverines scored in double figures across the Ellwood City boys and girls basketball teams as the two teams swept a double-header at Beaver Falls Friday night. The Lady Wolverines opened up action Friday night, earning a 53-51 victory behind its balanced offensive attack. Elise Sturgeon (16 points) was among the four Wolverines in double figures. Ellwood Area Family Center Hosting Youth Basketball Sessions

The Ellwood Area Family Center will be hosting two youth basketball sessions beginning later this month. The basketball sessions will be held at the Ellwood Area Family Center on the North Side of Ellwood City on Thursday evenings beginning on Thursday, January 23rd.  The clinic will run four five consecutive Thursdays and will be available for ages 3-5 and ages 6-8. Each weekly session will be one hour in length.  Ages 3-5 will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and ages 6-8 will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The cost for the program is $45.00…


Lilly Takes 1st Place In MAC Wrestling Championships, Wolverines Finish 9th Overall

Senior Gabe Lilly took 1st place in the 160 pound weight class at the 2025 Ed Driscoll MAC Tournament Saturday at Laurel High School. Lilly pinned Rook Smith (Montour) at 5:54 in the championship match to earn the victory.  Lilly earned an opening match victory by fall over Trey Dunlap (Quaker Valley Hs) and a quarterfinals victory by fall over Gannon Bowles (Blackhawk Hs) at 0:41. Jones, Sturgeon Earn All-Tournament; Wolverine Basketball Teams Each Split Games In Weekend Tournaments

Delaney Sturgeon scored a game-high 20 points and Kayla Jones added 19 points as Ellwood City defeated Shenango 59-23 in its second game of the Shenango Christmas Tournament. For their efforts each were named to the All-Tournament Team. Caitlin Kreitzer finished with 14 points and Elise Sturgeon finished with six points Saturday to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolverines. On Sunday, ten Ellwood City Wolverine players were honored at the MAC Coaches Association Awards Banquet and received their All-Conference Honors. Elijah Palmer-McCane was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year. Palmer-McCane, Evan Twedell, Luciano Gagric, and Chris Smiley all received unanimous selections for their respective positions.
