Junior High Softball Team Finishes Season with Four Consecutive Wins

For the second straight game, the Lady Wolverines won a game with a walk off hit. In Thursday night’s season finale, Sydni Haswell was the hero. She laced a line shot up the middle to score Taylor Covert and Maura Agostinelli as the team defeated Hampton in dramatic fashion by a score of 7-6. After a shaky defensive start that spotted Hampton a 6-1 lead after just two innings, the team regained their focus and outscored the Talbots 6-0 over the final five frames. Lady Wolverines Use Quick Start to Oust Rival Panthers

The Lady Wolverines used a three-hit performance by Freshman Ariana Garroway and an early five-run outburst to quickly dispatch the Panthers 15-0 in four innings on Tuesday. Ellwood City mashed three homes runs and used a five-run first inning and four-run second inning to quickly separate themselves from the visiting Panthers. “The team hit from top to bottom in the lineup,” head coach Gary Rozanski said. “We were able to jump on Riverside early and we put the ball in play hard from the beginning.” The victory on Senior Night continued the Wolverines undefeated season (12-0 overall) that will be…

Agostinelli’s Walk Off Triple Beats Butler, Junior High Softball Team Wins Third Straight

Maura Agostinelli’s line shot off of the fence in left center field plated Taylor Covert as the Lady Wolverines won in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning. In a classic pitcher’s duel that saw both teams combine for just five hits, the Wolverines were able to come through with a 5-4 victory. Madi Krugh was sensational in the circle as she posted the first double digit strikeout performance of her career. She went the distance with a sparkling two hitter. Ellwood Boys Tennis Team Win Boosts to .500 Record

The Lincoln High School Boy’s Tennis team improved their record to .500 in section play for the first time in recent memory, at 4-4, with a 5-0 win over Ambridge in their final section match of the season. The first doubles team of Senior Corey Hobbs and Sophomore Shane Reisinger remained undefeated in section play. Christian Mittica improved his section record to 6-2. There were several hard fought matches that stretched over three sets and could have gone either way, but the Ellwood boys held on to win. Softball/Baseball Recap: Lady Wolverines Remain Undefeated

The Ellwood City softball team continued its undefeated streak following two victories against Neshannock and Shenango. Following a 13-3 conference victory on Tuesday, April 26 versus Neshannock, the Lady Wolverines faced weather cancellations until playing Shenango on Saturday. Ellwood defeated Shenango 6-3. Although the Lady Wolverines got off to a 2-0 head start in the first inning, Shenango pulled ahead 3-2 by the fourth. They were subsequently shut down by two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings. The Lady Wolverines are 12-0 heading into the final rounds of conference play. EC Jr. High Battles North Hills, Falls 7-1

Last week, the Lady Wolverines were trounced 15-0 in three innings by the North Hills Indians. On Tuesday evening, the junior high ladies fought hard for seven innings before falling short by a final score of 7-1. This was the third straight game in which the young team has been competitive against a Class AAAA foe that had previously mercy ruled them. Ellwood Boys Tennis Team Defeats Central Valley

The Lincoln High School Boy’s Varsity Tennis team moved within one match of a .500 section record yesterday, improving their section record to 3-4 with a hard-fought win over Central Valley. Trey Houk won at second singles, and the first singles team of Corey Hobbs and Shane Reisinger maintained their undefeated section status at first doubles, both with straight set wins.
