Ellwood City’s First Football Game of the Year Recap

Written by Bradly Windhorst. Brand new season, brand new players, brand new week one, and brand new foes. Part one of a two-conference game week one occurred in the likes of Monaca, PA where newly-introduced-to-AAA ball Ellwood City matched up against Central Valley for an early conference outlook.  Coming fresh off of a 11-2 WPIAL runner-up finish, Central Valley was opening the season with hopes of repeating such success. Ellwood City on the other hand was looking for players to step up at the skills positions, while also showing they are not a push-over team in the likes of AAA….

Ellwood and Riverside: Tonight’s Games

Tonight is the start of the season for the Wolverines and Panthers! Central Valley High School will be hosting the Wolverines vs. Central Valley game tonight. For anyone who can’t make the game tonight but would like to watch it, the event will be live streamed from the Wolverines official website starting at 7p.m. Riverside High School will be hosting the Panther vs. Steel Valley game tonight, starting at 7p.m.

Ellwood City School District Forced to Hire Private Security for Games

There have been rumors going around that Ellwood City School District will no longer be provided with Ellwood City police officers for security at their high school sporting events, leaving it up to the school district to hire a private security company. Though Ellwood City’s Mayor, Anthony Court, confirmed the rumors to be true, he said said the issue is likely to be temporary. We also spoke with one of the school board members, LeRoy Cortez, who stated that the school has had a long-standing contract with the borough to provide security at games, which they’ve never had a problem…

2016 Riverside Panther Night

Yesterday held Riverside’s annual Panther Night, where hundreds of people gathered in celebration of recognizing this year’s fall sports teams. The night of festivities included raffles, concessions, band and cheering performances, and of course, introducing all of the team members. All of the teams have trained hard and are excited for their upcoming competitions.
