Improving Junior High Softball Team Suffers 8-6 Loss vs. Seneca Valley

After four straight lopsided losses, the Lady Wolverines showed significant improvement as they battled Seneca Valley Tuesday afternoon. After walking 10 batters in the first two innings and spotting the Raiders a 6-0 lead, the young pitching staff led by Madi Krugh, yielded just one more free pass and two additional runs over the final four frames. The Ellwood City boys tennis team lost a home match against Quaker Valley 0-5 on Friday. Ellwood City Softball Team Masters Three Conference Games

The Ellwood City softball team swung past three conference opponents in three days. The Lady Wolverines shut down Riverside 15-0 on Thursday, defeated Neshannock 11-8 on Friday and finished the weekend with a victory against Mohawk 7-1 on Saturday. On Thursday’s away game against rival Riverside, Ellwood’s Skyla Greco pitched a near perfect game, striking out 12 batters as her team defeated Riverside 15-0. The Ellwood City boys and girls track teams lost to Laurel at a home meet on Tuesday. However, Ellwood athletes captured several first places. For the boys, distance runner Billy Lott won the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs while participating in a winning 4×800 meter relay team. The Riverside baseball team played and won two games last week. On April 5, the Panthers defeated Vincentian Academy 4-3 and got a 2-0 win against Shenango on Thursday. For the Shenango win, juniors Ricky Wass and Dylan Speicher earned runs in the first and third innings. Michael Boswell pitched a near-perfect game with 13 strikeouts and only two hits against.
