Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s 30th Annual Christmas House Tour

The Gazebo located at Five Points in Ewing Park is a result of the Municipal Woman’s Club member’s efforts. It is maintained and cared for by the Municipal Woman’s Club. Often, it is used for wedding and graduation photographs, for meetings, and as a rest area for many people who walk in the park area. Through its Gazebo project, the Municipal Woman’s Club has demonstrated its leadership, dedication, and interest in the Ellwood City Community. “Toys for Tots” Collection Spot at Senator Vogel’s Office

State Senator Elder Vogel, Jr.’s office will be collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program through December 9th. If you would like to participate, please drop off any new, unwrapped toys at the Senator’s office at 488 Adams Street in Rochester. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Local Family Urges Community Members to Help Save Lives in Honor of Murdered Son

November 15, 2016, will be the third anniversary proceeding the murder of a local man, Richard Hogue. He was fatally shot by Leon Platt after Platt took offense to something Hogue said in the early hours of the morning on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, Hogue he was only 28 years old. Breaking News: Fire at Breaking Bread

Updated: 10:22a.m. Fire and police officials are currently responding to a fire call located at Breaking Bread in Ellwood. Workers and customers have been evacuated. A fire official said it seems likely that something in the oven caught on fire, however as of now, it appears that little damage has occurred. Update: It was a small fire that was extinguished quickly.

Police: Criminal Complaints

Bad Check According to the criminal complaint, Donald A. Mitcheltree Jr., 33, of West Pittsburg, is facing charges for passing a bad check after he passed an invalid check to Feezle’s Auto Wrecking on February 1, 2016, in the amount of $275.34, which was returned with a bank fee of $15.00 along with a certified letter holding a fee of $6.74. No restitution was paid to the victim. The total amount of damages concludes at $297.08. State Small Business Group Endorses Bernstine

State House candidate Aaron Bernstine has won the endorsement of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading advocate for small businesses. “This vote of confidence from the leading advocate for small business is both an honor and a signal that my message about growing jobs and building the economy of our region is reaching people,” Bernstine said. Sign up for Wampum Christmas Parade Treat Bags

Sign-up for ‘Treat Bags from Santa’ begins Friday Nov 4th at the Wampum Boro Bldg.  As in past years, the Wampum Christmas Parade begins at 1 PM on the first Saturday in December.  Immediately following the Parade, children who are registered go to the Wampum Gymnasium to visit Santa and Mrs. Clause and receive a treat bag.   Treats are free for Wampum area residents and cost $7 per bag for those outside the area.  Treats must be ordered and paid for ahead of time. Local Company Hosts Halloween Party

In celebration of Halloween, the Eric Ryan Corporation, one of Ellwood City’s largest employers, hosted their annual employee Halloween Party today which included festivities not only for the employees but also for the children and grandchildren of the employees. Employees enjoyed a luncheon with a large array of homemade dishes, a parade around the building, and a costume contest complete with prizes for the winners, and for the children the office hosted an “office Trick or Treat”.
