Mayor Court has canceled the “Crime Watch” Meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, February 16, 2017. The meeting is being rescheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2017 @ 6:30 pm in Council Chambers. Hope to see many residents at the meeting.
Woman Who Used Fake Identity Facing Felony Charges About a month ago a police report was released regarding a Warren, Ohio woman coming to the Ellwood City Hospital in an attempt to receive narcotic pain treatment by providing false identification. Due to some ongoing misconceptions between the electric utility, landlords, and tenants, the Borough has released two informational letters discussing the manner in which delinquent utility bills can best be addressed. A crash that happened slightly before 7a.m. this morning on Route 65 going toward New Brighton has claimed the life of a teenager and injured another. According to another news source, 19-year-old old Isaiah Hunter of New Brighton appeared to drift into the opposing lane of traffic, causing a head on collision with an SUV. Hunter’s car set on fire while other drivers attempted to free him, but he did not survive. Controversially, a suboxone clinic located on Pershing Street only a few blocks from the hospital has recently opened as an attempt to combat opiate addictions in the area. The New Castle Sanitation Authority was today (January 25) awarded an $11 million low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to provide sewage service in Shenango Township, according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47). The project involves the installation of more than 220,000 feet of service lines and several other major improvements to the current system.
