Bernstine Updates Community on Progress

Ellwood’s newly elected State Representative, Aaron Bernstine, has undoubtedly been working hard towards his promised improvements in the community. Despite his short time being elected, Bernstine is already known for his social media presence, posting updates often about his progress addressing issues affecting our community. This Saturday, Katy’s Bakery will be hosting their Christmas Cookie Walk at Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Social Hall starting at 1p.m. Partakers will be given a bucket to fill with an assortment of homemade cookies. Cookies will be priced per pound.

The Borough of Ellwood City Recognized as Certified Sustainable Municipality

Dec. 8, Ellwood City– The Borough of Ellwood City announced today it is among a select group of high performing municipalities to become certified through the Sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification program. The Borough is recognized at the Silver level of certification for meeting the program’s rigorous performance criteria which tracks 131 policies and practices that define a sustainable community. The sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification, administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal League in partnership with Sustainable Pittsburgh, is designed for municipalities that are working to save money, conserve resources, and serve vibrant communities. Outdoor Nativity Program

The Chewton Christian Church will have its annual Outdoor Nativity Program on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 6:30p.m. The Christmas story will be portrayed by children. Music will be provided by the Anderson Family (Echo Valley). Refreshments will be served in the church social hall following the program.

Police Reports: Thousands of Dollars Worth of Opiate Medications Stolen

Thousands of Dollars Worth of Opiate Medications Stolen According to the police report, on Dec. 5, a man came to the police station to report that his medication had been stolen from of the passenger seat of his car while he was inside Rite Aid getting an energy drink and cigarettes. The man claimed he was no longer than 10 minuets in the store and he had four newly filled prescriptions laying on the front seat. Cheapest Heating Sources

Not only is it the time of year to be concerned about heating, but with the recent Ellwood Electric situation many home owners are left wondering if their heating sources are saving them money -or costing them more. There are four main heat sources most commonly used by Pennsylvanians, these include oil, natural gas, electric, and propane.
