Senator Vogel Reappointed Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman

Senator Elder Vogel was reappointed today, January 7, 2019, by President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session. He has chaired the committee since 2012. Lincoln High School Alumni Benefit Concert

On Saturday, May 11, the Lincoln High School Concert Choir will be celebrating their 75th Anniversary. In honor of this milestone, the choir will be putting on an Alumni Benefit Concert. Any and all proceeds will benefit the Cindy Pertile Scholarship Fund. This fun will provide two types of scholarships annually. One scholarship goes towards the annual Concert Choir trip and the other goes towards a graduating member of the LHS music department to help further their education after high school. VIDEO: Lawmaker Calls For Investigation Into Ellwood Medical Center

Employees are still on the job, keeping the Ellwood City Medical Center open and safe, but without pay.  This may change as state and Lawrence County lawmakers are now calling for an investigation into the medical center. Last week, employees finally received good checks owed before Christmas – two weeks late – amid a series of recently reported payroll problems. According to a KDKA report, services have been dropped and departments have been closed. The century old medical center has gone from around 400 people to about 190. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will open their first meeting of the year on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 pm. Newly elected officers and board members, Andy Kindle, Dana Baker and Alexis Bodenschantz will be installed. The guest speaker for the evening will be Jonica Walters of Neshannock Township. A KDKA-TV news van was parked just outside the Ellwood City Medical Center entrance this morning, with video equipment staging what could be another news update on the status of what has become regional news this week. Multiple Pittsburgh-based media sources have reported on the small, financially struggling western Pennsylvania hospital that has delayed paying its workers and now the works may find themselves without health insurance. Monday Night Cornhole League Set To Begin in January

The Western Pennsylvania Cornhole Association will begin a Monday night Cornhole League. For the next 10 weeks, players of all skill levels are invited to the Chewton Polish Club where at 7:00 p.m. players will participate in a blind draw for their partners and proceed to participate in the tournament. Due to the tournament being held in a club, participants must be 21 and older. Relay For Life Hosting “Super Bingo”

There will be a “Super Bingo” held at the Moose on Sunday, January 20th to raise money for the Ellwood City Relay For Life. BC3 At Lawrence Crossing To Host Program Orientation

(New Castle, PA) Butler County Community College has announced that BC3 at Lawrence Crossing will host an orientation on January 8 for students seeking to enroll in a free, month long basic health care employment skills certificate program.
