PHOTOS: 3rd Annual Winter Wine & Brew Fest

The Ellwood City Revitalization held its 3rd Annual Winter Wine and Brew Fest on Saturday afternoon at the Ellwood City Sons of Italy Club.  The event featured beer and wine tasting, entertainment, DJ, raffles, catered food, and a Chinese Auction. Over 25 baskets donated by local businesses along with two gun raffles, sponsored by Duke’s Sport Shop, and two 50/50 raffles! Participation benefits the Ellwood City Revitalization projects. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Four Children Taken From Ellwood Home, Child Endangerment Cited

After Robert Reisinger, 72, called into Ellwood City police on January 16, regarding a robbery, an Ellwood City woman was left charged with child endangerment. Reisinger claimed Kortney May, 27, had come into his store and stole his wallet. The wallet contained $150 in cash, as well as his credit card. When police arrived at May’s home, the door was answered by two of her children, 10 and 7 years old. The children stated that their father was at work and their mother had gone to a friends house, leaving them in charge of their two other siblings. The police instantly…

Ellwood City United Fund Campaign Concludes End Of Month

The annual Ellwood City United Fund campaign drive will end on January 31.  However, it is still never too late to make your contribution. The board of directors wants to thank everyone that contributed to the annual fund. The total campaign contributions came up $ 18,000.00 below the goal of $50,000.00. After an announcement earlier this month to extend the campaign, United Fund Treasurer Andrew Kindle stated via email, “We feel and hope this will give the community extra time to respond for our plea of funds.” The United Fund provides funds to the eight agencies that serve Ellwood City area….

Morella Earns WPCC All-Academic Honors

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s most recent All-American in one sport en route to setting a school record in another is among 17 BC3 student-athletes on the fall 2018 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference all-academic team and one of seven honored for a third consecutive semester. (Butler, PA) Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the fall 2018 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. Bernstine Receives Committee Assignments for Upcoming Session

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced he was assigned to serve on the House Commerce and Insurance committees during the 2019-20 legislative session. Riverside Graduate Release Her First EP

Local Riverside graduate, Sarah Espen, has just made a name for her in the music world by releasing an EP in late December. Espen graduated from Riverside in 2012, only to pick up and move to Nashville, Tennessee after. “I wrote my first song with my dad when I was 5 years old.” Espen said, “And I haven’t stopped writing since.” Growing up, Espen was surrounded by music. Investigation Underway Into Americore Finances

According to multiple news reports and websites on Friday, a search warrant served by the Lawrence County District Attorney offices has opened up the investigation into the finances of Florida-based Americore and CEO Grant White. According to a published New Castle News report, the affidavit highlights interviews “management level personnel who have direct knowledge of the financial distress at ECMC.” It clearly showcases Americore Health and its problems making payroll starting in August.
