The Tax Office would like to remind everyone that starting Tuesday, December 4, office hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The office will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Reminder that after Saturday, December 15 the office will not be accepting business or personal checks. They will only accept money orders, bank checks, or cash.

As Ellwood City prepares for the holiday season, the Borough Council announced free, two-hour holiday parking beginning November 24th and extending to December 31st. The free parking will be offered at metered spaces along Lawrence Avenue, Bellow Avenue, and Crescent Avenues as well as Fifth Street, Sixth Street, and Seventh Street. The Beaver Avenue parking lot will also be included in the holiday parking and receive two hours of free parking for local shoppers. The Club Hope Foundation is hosting their inaugural “Celebration of HOPE Ball” on Saturday March 30, 2019. The Ellwood City Borough Council and the Mayor’s office were honored to received a plaque, that was presented last week, from The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance. Along with Borough Council and the Mayor’s office, the Ellwood City Police Department is also a proud sponsor of this organization. With over 400 volunteers, this organization had picked up 404 tires and 58,126 pounds of trash within 2018. From their start, they’ve collected a total of 4,455 tires and 418,983 pounds of trash. On Sunday, November 11, 2018, a ceremony was held on the steps of the Ellwood City Borough Building commemorating 100 years since the end of WWI, also known as Armistice Day. The event was planned by Mayor Anthony J. Court with the assistance of Sam Teolis. Cosmo Morabito gave the invocation and Bob Morabito read a poem honoring all veterans. Descendants of the Ellwood City servicemen who served in WWI were recognized and thanked for the service their ancestors gave to our country. Ellwood City Council votes on new borough manager at the monthly meeting on November 19. All council members were present at the meeting except Mayor, Anthony J. Court. Ellwood City Council has finally permanently filled the borough manager position for the upcoming year. The council voted 5-2 for William David Allen to be the new full-time borough manger. The annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, December 1st at 3:30. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Staging will take place in the Holy Redeemer School parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 2:45 and enter the lot at Crescent Avenue and 3rd Street.
