Bernstine to Host Free Paper Shredding Event on May 25

ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) will host a free paper shredding event on Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Wurtemburg-Perry Fire Hall, 425 Portersville Road, Ellwood City.

Free on-site document shredding will be provided by Iron City Workplace Services.

“Now, more than ever, we need to protect our personal information and make sure it is destroyed properly,” Bernstine said. “Identity theft is a growing crime in the United States, and shredding important documents is a simple step residents can take to protect themselves.”

Residents who plan on taking advantage of the service should note:

  • No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted.
  • Materials more than 1-inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machine. Staff will be available to assist.
  • Materials may be transported to the event in boxes, bags or plastic tubs; however, only paper and cardboard will be handled by the shredding company.
  • There is a limit of four boxes, or the equivalent, per vehicle.

No advance registration is required to participate in the event. For more information, residents should visit RepBernstine.com or Facebook.com/RepBernstine, or call Bernstine’s office at 724- 752-2120.
