June 30 Dubbed Eric Rayner Day

On June 28, 2019, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to Eric Rayner, declaring that June 30, 2019, as Eric Rayner Day in Ellwood City. Eric was the leader in saving the fireworks display for the Ellwood City Festival, raising $11,000 for the fireworks show. Ellwood City is proud of a great job done by Eric and grateful for all who donated to keep this tradition alive. I believe everyone, in and around the Ellwood City area, enjoyed the fireworks immensely.

Over 150 vendors came out to celebrate Ellwood City’s way to kick off summer over the weekend. Live bands played, painted rocks hidden and found, dancers performed, and winners were announced. To conclude the festivities, fireworks were set off in the Ellwood City football stadium. It looked to be a battle to get fireworks, but our community pulled through, led by 26-year-old Eric Rayner who helped stoke fundraising efforts that doubled projections. Fifth Beautification Award Has Been Presented

On July 1, 2019, Mayor Court presented Gary Rozanski of Jefferson Avenue, Ellwood City with the 5th 2019 Beautification Award yard sign and gift certificate. Gary’s property shows the effort and care put into making our community beautiful for everyone to enjoy. There is still one more Award and a gift certificate to be presented by Mayor Court for the 2019 Season. Upcoming Tennis Mini-Clinic Planned In Ewing Park

There will be a youth tennis clinic hosted by the Ellwood City Girls tennis team and coaches, marking this year as the 5th year of holding the clinic. “We want kids to find interest in playing tennis and learning about the game,” said girls tennis head coach John DiBuono. The clinic will be held on July 8th, 9th, and 10th from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Ewing park courts. The clinic, open to children 5 to 12, costs $25. The annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Foods and Entertainment Festival was held this past weekend in Ewing Park.  Early entertainment included the annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant, won this year by Aria Cannon, and the annual Ellwood City Ledger 10k Race, while food and daily entertainment captivated those in attendance throughout the weekend. Rock Hide N Seek At The Festival

Local artist Danette Morningstar Hall decided to take a local spin onto the countywide rock hide n seek. The idea behind Beaver County Rocks is simple: find a rock, take a picture of it, and rehide it for someone else to stumble upon. “I’ve found a few of other people’s rocks and it’s always so exciting, so I wanted to pay it forward,” said Hall.
