Two Area Clean-Up Days Announced

Both Brush Creek Park and River Road have scheduled Clean-Up Days in the month of April. Brush Creek has scheduled their Clean-Up Day for Thursday, April 22nd from Noon until Dusk. Volunteers are needed for this event to help out the community.  Take pride in your community and help clean up by picking up garbage, sticks, and brush. Bring a team, ask friends and co-workers. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE OPEN The Library will be open by appointment only. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ASSAULT: A 27-year-old female from New Castle is charged with Simple Assault and Harrassment after an incident on April 10 in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. According to the PA State Police report, Caitlin Gardner engaged in a verbal altercation with her 56-year-old mother that led to Gardner pushing her mother as she left her residence on Ellwood Road. Lawrence County Announces $500M In Grant Funding For Paving Projects

Lawrence County is announcing $523,291.51 in grant funding for municipal paving projects through the Lawrence County Transportation Improvement Program, assisting with $1,590,708.04 in total paving project cost for 21 projects in 14 municipalities. “We’re glad to be able to assist our municipalities with this much needed infrastructure funding. While Lawrence County ultimately does not own any roads, infrastructure is a top priority for the Board of Commissioners and we will continue to fight for more funding to pave more roads and repair more bridges,” said Morgan Boyd, Chairman, Lawrence County Board of Commissioners. In a public meeting notice announcement, the Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has changed the location of upcoming meetings. The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has moved the location of their May 6, 2021 Committee Meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the May 13, 2021 Regular Meeting at 7:00 pm. to the Hartman Intermediate Multi-Purpose room. The Committee Meeting is scheduled for June 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. has been cancelled due to graduation and the Regular Meeting scheduled for June 10, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. will now be a combined meeting.  


Lawrence County Earth Day Ewing Park Clean-Up Scheduled

Lawrence County Earth Day is happy to announce that Boy Scout Troop 806 and the Rotary Club of Ellwood City will be sponsoring/leading a clean-up in Ewing Park on Saturday, April 17th. Those who want to lend a hand should meet at Shelter #8 at 9:30 a.m. and bring a trash bag and gloves. Please follow social distancing guidelines. Imposters Posing as Publisher’s Clearing House Contacting Local Residents; Don’t Be a Victim

With the numerous scams running rampant in our area, one specific scam has been gaining traction recently. According to Mayor Anthony Court, he has received at least four or five phone calls regarding scammers posing at Publisher’s Clearing House. “Unsolicited phone calls are always a scam,” Court said. He said local people have lost out on a lot of money. “I spoke with one lady who lost $18,000 in a similar type of scam,” he said. Publisher’s Clearing House is a legitimate organization. 2021 Ellwood City Festival Postponed

According to its social media post Tuesday evening, the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Foods, and Entertainment Festival Committee has cancelled its 2021 event. This postponement marks a second consecutive year the festival has been canceled due to coronavirus safety concerns. New Castle Woman Indicted on Multiple Drug Counts

PITTSBURGH – A resident of New Castle, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal narcotics laws, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced Monday. The four-count Indictment, returned on April 7 and unsealed today, named Deia Eggleston, age 46, as the sole defendant. According to the Indictment, from January 2017 through May 2019, Eggleston conspired with individuals known and unknown to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute Schedule I and Schedule II substances, including acetyl fentanyl, fentanyl, crack cocaine, heroin and cocaine.
