Ellwood City School District Receives $7,481 State Grant

The Ellwood City Area School District was awarded a $7,481 state grant by the Department of Agriculture, according to Senator Elder Vogel. The school district will use the Ag & Youth Program funding for the Garden at Perry Project. Wolf to Increase Indoor & Outdoor Events and Gatherings Maximum Capacity on May 17

Riverside High School 2021 Prom

Riverside High School held their 2021 prom this past Friday May 7th. The promenade took place at Riverside High School where students walked through both the gymnasium and auditorium for friends and family to see. The dance was held at Rustic Meadows Farms in Darlington, Pennsylvania. The prom court was selected earlier in the week and the king and queen were crowned at the end of promenade. Victory in Europe (V-E) Day is celebrated annually on May 8th to recognize the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender. UPMC Jameson is holding a special vaccination event for the Ellwood City community on Saturday, May 15, at Lincoln High School. Film Producer & EC Native Follows Family Ties In Journey To Tell Story Of Local War Hero

800 missions, saving 576 lives. That is the story of local war hero Royal Stratton as told by his nephew and film producer Christopher Johnson, an Ellwood native. Johnson, along with production partner Mariana Tosca, directed a 90-minute film titled “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission” that was released in February 2021. Tosca and Johnson, born in Ellwood City, traveled the globe to locate and interview the last remaining voices of the Greatest Generation in order to secure firsthand, historical accounts of some of the most consequential events of the war.  The film has taken 10 years to complete….
