Schools Learn Solar Benefits Through Partnership With The PA Solar Center & Generation180

On Friday, August 19th, two nonprofits – the Pennsylvania Solar Center and Generation180 – joined with school officials over Zoom to explore how many Pennsylvania school districts are supplying up to 100% of their electricity needs with solar energy, and how schools are investing the cost savings into their students. . Lincoln High School Pie Festival, Riverside Panther Night This Week!

Both Ellwood City and Riverside school districts will kick off their respective back to school seasons with community events on Thursday, August 25th. Ellwood City will host its annual Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band Pie Festival at the high school gymnasium. Doors for the Pie Festival open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.. The band will perform selections from their 2022 pre-game and halftime shows, all fall sports teams will be introduced, and you can eat pie. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On August 1st, at approximately 12:05 a.m., PA State Police were dispatched to Freeds Trailer Park, New Beaver Borough, Lawrence County, in reference to criminal mischief. Bernstine Introduces Legislation to Enhance Classroom Safety

HARRISBURG – After the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, where children and educators were killed at an elementary school, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler, Lawrence) has introduced legislation to enhance the safety of children and staff while on school property. “Mass murderers are often attracted to “soft targets” where they know victims are not armed,” said Bernstine. “According to the Crime Prevention Resource Center, there has not been a single mass shooting in a school where staff were clearly allowed to carry a firearm.” House Bill 2771 would allow school employees who possess a valid Pennsylvania concealed carry permit to be…

Council Promotes Ellwood City Police Officer to Sergeant

Ellwood City Borough Council voted Monday night to promote Ellwood City Police Officer Rob Magnifico to sergeant. Council had a choice to make in promoting one officer or two. Magnifico along with fellow Officer Matt Kennedy were the choices to fill the position. Councilman Caleb Cragle and Councilwoman Jan Williams voted to promote two officers but were met with opposition from the rest of council. Councilmen James Barry, Brad Ovial, and George Celli and Councilwomen Judith Dici and Michelle Lamenza voted to appoint one officer—Magnifico—to fill the role. The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday August 10, 2022, and recognized student athletes from Lincoln and Riverside Schools for their accomplishments these past school years. The Club recognizes local citizens who excel in their school or perform volunteer work in the community, epitomizing the Clubs moto: “Pro Bono Publico”-For the Good of the Public.
