Residents Continue Opposition Against Planned Softball Stadium at Former Ewing Park School Location

Residents of Beatty and Wood Streets, where a softball stadium is planned for the Ellwood City Area School District girls softball team, continued to fill the seats of the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting room, and they circulated a petition in the hallway of Lincoln High School in an effort stop the plan before Thursday’s voting meeting. Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation this week to Tony “Hoots” Mazzei for his recent Heritage Marker from Beaver County Historical Research and Landmark Foundation. Mayor Court recognized Mr. Mazzei for his historical significance for his building at 1001 South Second Street, Ellwood City, PA. Sewer Upgrade Project on Wampum Avenue Underway

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced the start of the Wampum Avenue Pump Station Project in its effort to improve the infrastructure in the area. A letter was mailed to residents in the affected areas. Construction will take place on Wampum Avenue between Madison Street Ext and Fifth Street Bridge. This project is a sewer upgrade for multiple existing sewer transport lines in the wooded area East of Wampum Ave. A pump station will also be built to collect from these lines to be transported to the Ellwood City Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. Bernstine Announces C2P2 Grant To Fund Rehabilitation of Wampum Park

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) announced grants totaling $171,300 have been awarded to Butler and Lawrence counties to fund two recreational improvement projects through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). “Parks and recreation centers provide gathering places for families and social groups, as well as for individuals of all ages and economic status,” said Bernstine. “Development projects are vital to our district as they provide job opportunities to those in surrounding areas and, upon completion, help increase tourism in our communities.” Wampum Borough in Lawrence County will receive a grant of $73,000 to rehabilitate Wampum Park. North Sewickley Twp Police Looking For Help Identifying Man

The North Sewickley Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man they say was loitering and prowling at night. According to police on their Facebook.com Page, the man was seen in the early morning hours Friday, October 6th in the area of Brighton Road.
