Penn State Cooperative Extension Offers ServSafe Food Safety Certification

NEW CASTLE, PA – According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments must have all persons in charge successfully complete a food safety training class. Completing the necessary training and passing the associated exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) Food Employee Certification Act. To help food establishments meet this requirement, Penn State Extension is offering a Food Safety Training Course. The course will be held at the New Castle Public Library, located at 207 E. Library Activities For the Week Of October 29

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include:   TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers.  This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more.  Registration is requested. Date Released For Town Hall Meeting Regarding The EC Medical Center

On Wednesday, November 7, Ellwood City residents will finally have their chance to ask their looming questions about the recent happenings and what the future entails for the Ellwood City Medical Center as a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled. Operation Safe Stop Highlights National School Bus Safety Week

On Wednesday, October 24, the 22nd annual Operation Safe Stop will be conducted in communities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This event is apart of National School Bus Safety Week, which runs from Monday, October 22 to Friday, October 26. Operation Safe Stop is a public awareness and enforcement effort to educate the public that passing a stopped school bus, especially when children are loading or unloading, is both dangerous and illegal. Ellwood City Halloween Parade October 27

The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, October 27, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Staging will take place in the Holy Redeemer School parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 2:45 and enter the lot at Crescent Avenue and 3rd Street. Parents may drop off their children on Crescent Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street. Riverside Graduate Creates His Own Horror Effects

Omega FX is a small business created by John Guerrini. Guerrini is a Riverside grad who attended Seton Hill University to get his degree after high school. He had been hired for a job at an amusement park as a college student during the Halloween season, where he had gotten a job as one of the people in costume that walked around the park and it spark his love for all things horror.
