Acclaimed Local Artist and Author to Share Her Personal Journey at January’s Meeting

January’s guest speaker at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s monthly meeting on the 13th will be acclaimed local author and visual artist, Lynda McKinney Lambert. A retired Professor of Fine Arts at Geneva College, Lynda’s poetry and non-fiction essays have been published in a variety of literary journals, anthologies, and academic writings, as well as her personal accomplishments that are featured in several books. Lynda’s unique personal story involves her sudden and profound loss of sight in 2007 that she had to overcome through intensive rehabilitation. Gordmans Announces Hiring Event

In anticipation of a previously announced changeover from Peebles to Gordmans, there will be a hiring event hosted at all 23 Gordman locations in Pennsylvania this month. While the changeover will be official at all Peebles locations in Pennsylvania on February 18, corporate owner Stage Stores Inc. announced the event will be on January 7 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Locally, the event will be held at the Franklin Plaza on Route 288 and at the store in Neshannock Township at 3332 Wilmington Road. Positive Action Initiative At North Side

Starting this year, students at North Side school participated in a new kind of initiative. Principal Christine Gibson and her fellow co-works help the students practice positive action by teaching the students to be responsible, respectful, safe, and positive. In reward for following these four actions, students are given ‘blue slips’ which they can go and place in the positive action mascot Wolvie the Wolverine. Each month students are gathered to attend an assembly to celebrate all of their positive actions. Lincoln High School To Hold Annual Christmas Choral Concert On Sunday

This Sunday will feature an afternoon of holiday music when high school and middle school students present the annual Lincoln High School Christmas Gift Choral Concert. The free concert begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo auditorium.
