Mayor Court Thanks Lawrence County Commissioners

On Thursday, Mayor Anthony J. Court was treated to a tour of the new Emergency Operation Center by Director Brian Melcer and Deputy Director Jeff Parish. Mayor Court wanted to extend his appreciation to the County Commissioners Dan Vogler, Robert Del Signore Jr. and Steve Craig for their help in obtaining radios for the Ellwood City Police Department without cost to the Borough, savings of about $35,000. Gibbons Invites Public to Upcoming Town Hall Meeting

State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, will host a second town hall meeting to update residents on local community events and important state government-related issues. Mayor’s Crime Watch and Advisory Meetings Rescheduled

The May 26, 2016 Crime Watch meeting and the Mayor’s Advisory meeting have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. The Crime Watch meeting  is rescheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. and the Mayors Advisory meeting is also rescheduled for Thursday, June 30 at 3 p.m.


Memorial Day Committee Extends Invitation to Participate

The Ellwood City Memorial Day Committee would like to extend an invitation to the entire community to participate in this year’s parade. Invitation to veterans of all ages and branches to walk or ride in the parade in honor of the men and women who died in military service for the United States of America.  Any veteran unable to walk the parade route will have the opportunity to ride on a float with other veterans. Jozek, Ellwood City Borough’s Police Dog, Retires

Jozek, the Ellwood City Borough’s first police, will retire at the end of this month after nine years of service. His career was honored during a ceremony at the borough council agenda meeting on Monday. Jozek has worked with Sgt. Michael McBride from week one of his training. Since 2007, Jozek has been involved in 247 arrests and 11 bite apprehensions, including sniffing out 789 stamp doses of heroin coated in grease and concealed in a secret compartment in a van. “Walk this Way” Fashion Show and Tea

Dayspring Harvest Ministries and the Ellwood City Art Club will host a fashion show and tea on Saturday, May 14.
